I've always liked Chagaev, but he should retire. In his (very short) prince he would have handled Ortiz.

As it is now, I'd give him a 25% chance at best.

all depends on his shape

when he fought wlad he was 225, now he is around 245-250

Chagaev has been long overrated, and I've been eager for him to get involved in a match-up where he can get knocked off the pedestal that some of his overraters have put him on. Ortiz seems to be of genuine quality. He has a very muscular frame, a lot of power, very good accuracy at hitting moving targets, and fights with the patience of a disciplined veteran. This is a match-up I would like to see, and it would help bring some clarity to the rankings.

I think most have felt Chagaev was crap since Wlad. He was very snake bit, injuries and hepatitis stole most of his prime years.

Luis Ortiz will easily beat the faded, overweight Ruslan Chagaev.

The hopefully sometime in 2015 we'll see Ortiz vs. Wladimir Klitschko. :box:

Lateef Kayode. Chagaev only beat one fighter as good as Lateef in the last 5 years, and he barely beat him at all. Ortiz ran over the same caliber of opponent like a tank.

I haven't seen a fighter so over-rated on this forum so quickly than Luis Ortiz. He knocks out Lateef, who drew with an ancient Tarver, and now he's suddenly the best HW not named Klitschko? He's not particularly fast, he loads up on his left cross, technically is not on the level of his compatriots Solis or Gomez.

Sure he'll likely beat a washed up Chagaev but he's not going to blow him away. It'll be a boring decision win.

This.

He also can be very lazy in the ring sometimes.
