Kirkland will likely fight Rosado on November 8th on HBO at a catch weight.

It seems like this is destined to be a bs fight in anticipation of a big fight in May with Miguel.

My first response would be who the fornicate cares? The only thing that Clottey brings besides his old ass is a better chin than Kirkland. Kirk has a big punch but being a slow starter would not serve him well vs Canelo. Canelo KO 3-5 vs Kirkland, and UD over Clottey, imo.

He looks pretty good in his last fight, schooling Mundine, knocking him down 5 times on way to UD victory. Still, Canelo should fight Kirkland :box:

Man, rosados handlers are really going to get that dude killed. I'm sure he will get paid fairly well (especially for a guy with his record), but at some point he needs to stop taking beatings.

Clottey/Alvarez isn't a bad fight. I think it's a fight that Alvarez should win, but it's not a easy touch what so ever (better than anyone GGG has ever fought for instance lol). Whats going happen though is Alvarez is going to have Clottey in a defensive posture most the fight and win on sheer volume punching. It won't be that close of a fight, but Clottey will get his licks in as well, probably land some really nice uppercuts.

Kirkland/Alvarez is a good fight on paper but I think a terrible stylistic match-up for Kirkland. I think Alvarez would take him out rather quickly.

Only problem with that is Alvarez isn't a volume puncher. It's one thing to be forced to keep your hands up when a guy throws 1,675 punches or 1,231 punches, but Alvarez has a consistent work rate of around 400-500 punches. Clottey will have ample opportunity to counter. I am not saying Clottey wins, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Clottey just can't get a decision against Canelo who always has at least one judge strongly on his side.

Yes but every fight Clottey has ever lost was due to him not being active enough offensively and out punched. Clottey shells up all the time and gives his opponents a chance to go on the offense with nothing coming back. Alvarez doesn't need to throw 100 punches a round to outwork Clottey, if he throws anywhere from 50-75 he will have no problem out working Clottey. But I agree Clottey has a nasty counter uppercut and will more than likely land them at some points in the fight, but he's not even a big puncher I just don't see it being enough for him to win. But if Clottey fights and uses his high guard like he always has Alvarez will have no problem putting combinations together, it's much easier to put combos together against Clottey than it is against guys like Trout, Mayweather and Lara.

Kirkland has one loss and has taken punches from guys who hit harder or as hard as Canelo. He is also an all action fighter.

Clottey is 5 years removed from his prime. He also spends large portions of fights with earmuffs on.

Yeah ... Clottey is a much better opponent than Kirkland.

On what planet is Clottey a better opponent? Canelo/Kirkland would be great, Alvarez would have 2 or 3 rounds to catch james and finish him and if he didn't Kirkland would be deep in his ass by the second half. Canelo/Clottey would be as dull a fight as you can possibly make. 120-108 canelo, all around.

Clottey wasn't boring against Margarito( i thought he won) and he wasn't boring against cotto. He was a damn dog against Pacman.......Kirklands china chin will keep him from beating top 5 guy type of guys.

You're hard pressed to be boring against a margarito or cotto. This is two guys who prefer to counter and take long lapses during rounds. I'd love to be wrong, but I smell a turd.

Kirkland's chin is far from china, he's just a slow starter. Once he warms up he eats bombs.

Kirkland has taken punches from Angulo (the real one) and Joel Julio.

He had that one unfortunate event against Ishida, but I've seen JMM get decked early in fights too. Whatever, I think that a determined Kirkland weathers Canelo's early flurries and then begins to apply the pressure Angulo couldn't.

It would be a much better fight than Clottey getting handcuffed while Canelo circles and throws a lot of punches that will be blocked.

James is underrated because people can't get over one result. Ishida may not have a record that indicates power, but he was the the biggest Jr Middle I've ever seen.
