I can understand the need for PPV at times, but it should only be on rare occasions, not everytime there's a good show on. My biggest problem with is that it's a short term approach, how can we make as much money as possible, as fast as possible. And everyone does get rich, but long term it drives people away from boxing and does no good at all. 5-10 years ago there was a golden era for British boxing, quite possibly the best we've ever had. But we haven't seen any increase in viewing figures or ticket sales, not a notable one anyway, maybe it will come in a few years when those that saw the likes of Calzaghe and Hatton decide to go down to their local boxing club and have a go themselves start to come through, but we've seen no benefits of it. Something like that should have seen huge crowds and huge viewing figures continuing long after those fighters were gone.Naandrew wrote:Frampton would sell 2-3times as much as Quigg in Manchester. And lets be honest, even if Frampton only draws big in Belfast, that's better than not drawing at all like Quigg.lillywhite14 wrote:Frampton beats Quigg but seems a few here are overstating Carl's ability and name somewhat.
Frampton brings the big numbers and a real belt. He only brings the big numbers in his hometown and as for his belt, well, as much as I like Martinez, Munroe dealt with him years ago, and that whole fight was geared towards Frampton winning.
Quigg will earn well at matchroom and be in the mix for other decent fights with them eventually, with or without Carl.
I wouldn't mind seeing it but it's not a real must see fight for me. Both are overrated. Both nice chaps so if they do fight I hope they both get paid well.
I hate PPV personally and can not see how Quigg v Frampton is a PPV fight.

Would be hard for me to stay up for the Khan fight, especially given its a fight that people would pick Floyd by KO in.Boxerbeetle123 wrote:What a disappointing show; that made the earlier Manchester card look good.
Right, lesson finally learned - I'm never ever staying up to watch another Mayweather fight again.
Unless he fights Pacquiao or Khan obviously
Re: Official boxrec RBR thread - Manchester and Mayweather cards
The Mayweather bout reminded me of Hatton - Mayweather really. Mayweather dancing round winning the fight on the back foot, holding a lot and picking flashy pot shots. Maidana trying his heart out but getting broekn off by the ref at every opportunity before he could make his close work and tactics pay off.
Basically Mayweather is a protected species in Vegas and it's gona take one hell of a fighter to overcome the home advantage, scoring etc etc that inevitably Mayweather always gets there.
Imagine being an American paying $75 for that garbage.

A fight Floyd could win by KO? Worth staying up for in itself, these 12 round 'masterclasses' with about 3 rounds of action are wearing a bit thin...brian13 wrote:Would be hard for me to stay up for the Khan fight, especially given its a fight that people would pick Floyd by KO in.Boxerbeetle123 wrote:What a disappointing show; that made the earlier Manchester card look good.

Regardless, I think Mayweather has slipped enough that Khan's speed would give him serious problems, and Khan's always exciting to watch due to his style & vulnerability. I'd definitely stay up to watch it.

I said in previous threads a while back, I think Khan has the style, speed and accuracy to give Mayweather nightmares. Can Khan beat him? A few years ago no but now, yes I genuinely think he can.

Absolutely stunned how anyone could have given Mayweather round 4.... yet one of the paid, qualified judges did. When the cards were announced I thought they were kind to Maidana overall but jeez... how can you give that round to Floyd?

I think he can give him problems - unfortunatley you know he is going to get tagged himself at some point and will be game over

Since when was Mayweather a dynamite puncher? The shot from Garcia that scrambled Khan was an absolute howitzer.
Khan certainly doesn't have the best chin but I doubt he'll go over from the first clean Mayweather punch.

I wouldn't bank on it mate. I think Mayweather hits hard enough to give Khan problems. Willie Limond hits hard enough to give Khan problems.black panther wrote:rossij8 wrote:I think he can give him problems - unfortunatley you know he is going to get tagged himself at some point and will be game over

j honestly dont think Mayweather has declined that much. It wasnt long ago when he made Canelo look like a novive. I just think Maidana has the style and the shot variety to make Floyd uncomfortable and therefore not look his best. Who has Khan beat in the last couple of years to think he could beat Mayweather. If Maidana was to go back in against Khan now i would fancy Maidana to stop him late on.

I was well dissapointed in Maidana,he and his team said that he would be doing same as before but keep the pace up for longer and i thought that would have been interesting yet he done the opposite was pretty conservitive by his standard and looked as if he was trying to box his way into the fight
The rematch happened exactly how i predicted the first fight to go,i had it 118-109
