Re: skeetes offer to Eggington
Give Eggington notice and a half decent training camp and he grinds down and batters Skeete for my money.
Sam turned over with thoughts of going the journeyman route for cash but his pro performances mark him out as a title contender for my money.
Between Skeete admitting he doesn't really want to fight Frankie Gavin and attempting to get Eggington on no notice I am not 100% convinced he/his camp are sold on his own ability above area level.

So Skeete isn't going to fight Gavin?TerribleTerry wrote:Between Skeete admitting he doesn't really want to fight Frankie Gavin and attempting to get Eggington on no notice I am not 100% convinced he/his camp are sold on his own ability above area level.
Would Eggington replace Skeete as the British mandatory challenger if Skeete pulls out?

Skeete and Eggington would be a good fight. I do think Skeete is ready to be exposed very soon, he does nothing special.

Eggington was very good, he took what Vassell had to throw at him but thought he was always in control, seen him a few times and think he has a good future in the game.Black Sam Bellamy wrote:Was Eggington very good on Saturday, or was Denton Vassell just coming to the end of the road ?
Re: skeetes offer to Eggington
Bit of both for me, early on it was clear that Denton was very rusty and he looked sluggish, but when he started to get going after 4 or 5 rounds, Eggington took control of the fight again and didn't let him get any proper momentum going, for a young lad it was a very composed performance. I don't think Vassell's coming to the end, it might be now, but that's down to inactivity rather than him not having it anymore, he's only had 22 fights and he's 30, so he should have another 3 or 4 years left in him yet, but the question is, does he have the desire needed to go on?Black Sam Bellamy wrote:Was Eggington very good on Saturday, or was Denton Vassell just coming to the end of the road ?
Re: skeetes offer to Eggington
Im not sure if Vassell has actually turned 30 yet. I know he's coming up for it though. Like you say though, he shouldnt be shot already I dont think. The situation with his job in the bank didnt sound great though. That cant of helped preparations without meaning to take anything anyway from Eggington.expe wrote:Bit of both for me, early on it was clear that Denton was very rusty and he looked sluggish, but when he started to get going after 4 or 5 rounds, Eggington took control of the fight again and didn't let him get any proper momentum going, for a young lad it was a very composed performance. Re: skeetes offer to Eggington
he was 30 on the day of the bout, Hes not fight worn and hes never really took a beating even in his lone loss.I think he was a bit rusty but like the commentator said hes never been a guy whos ever been massivley active i just think he ran into a well prepared good young fighter on the night.
Theres a lot more to come from Sam and like isaid on an earlier thread age and experiance wise i think hes good a value as anyone in the country for excitement and proper fights

Re: skeetes offer to Eggington
Very young fighter in Eggingtons case. A lot of room for improvement there aswell.

Re: skeetes offer to Eggington
For me Eggington wins this by sitting on top of him for 5 - 6 rounds then finishing the job 7 - 8.
I'd like too see either Skeete or Eggington against S.Singleton too - be interesting to see Sam's style there against Shayne, as Shayne is very elusive & has a cracking engine! -- thoughts?

Re: skeetes offer to Eggington
Patterson beats both imo
Re: skeetes offer to Eggington
Just read that Eggington's signed a deal with Matchroom
I'm not always Matchrooms biggest fan but I like to see Midland fighters signing with either of the big tv promoters. (Not that I've got anything against the small hall promo0ters in this area just think it means these fighters can get more oppurtunities and fight on a level playing field)
Both Warren and Matchroom seem to be taking more of an interest in Midlands fighters at the minute. Which can only be a good thing for the area.
