Re: George Groves
I looked at the opponent and he's nothing flash, should be an easy night for Groves to get back into boxing. Groves should be a champion on Saturday night.
Re: George Groves
The groves factor as gone
Re: George Groves
I'm looking forward to it. I like the way Groves fights. I'm hoping he goes on to become World Champion. I just have a huge question mark over a) his stamina and b) His ability to concentrate fully for twelve rounds. One lapse can cost you as in Froch fight 2.
Re: George Groves
I'm hoping Groves puts on a proper performance. He was robbed in the first Froch fight (not Carl's fault by any means) and was on even terms before being caught by a great punch in the rematch.
He's still young & if he does well against Rebrasse I hope he gets a title shot next.
Agree with the above concerns about his stamina though.

Regarding tickets, it's practically sold out.mullenman wrote:Anybody looking forward to this fight?

To be fair, the undercard is decent and supported by Matchroom.

Re: George Groves
Groves is a fantastic boxer. A real talent. His only weakness seems to be his chin. Im not saying he is chinny, its just not a world class chin (if there is such a thing). As mentioned above, could it be a concentration thing?
Re: George Groves
I'm actually looking forward to it, but the undercard isn't anything I'm looking forward to. I might watch Galahad and tape the Sky bill so I can just watch the main event.
Re: George Groves
The undercard is terrible.
Re: George Groves
Anthony Direll isn't in a rush to fight him especially in the UK.

And his ability to absorb big shots. For me anyway.Ian1973 wrote:I'm looking forward to it. I like the way Groves fights. I'm hoping he goes on to become World Champion. Re: George Groves
I dont think it was that great of a shot. Groves just doesnt have the best beard. Froch has said in interviews himself since that he's hit other guys with the same kind of shots before and they hardly blinked.Taansend wrote:I'm hoping Groves puts on a proper performance. Re: George Groves
The guy he is facing is apparently known as L'Iceberg (Boxing News today) which left me wondering whether he punches like a over-rated, watery lettuce or appears out of nowhere to sink fancied fighters.
I am pretty sure George will win it with something to spare, maybe he'll need a couple of rounds to find his feet and the other lad looks like one of those solid, stubborn Euro-level customers the French have always done pretty well.

Re: George Groves
Rebrasse's last fight .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KwAwQzMLTg .... if Groves cant deal with that guy then he needs to give up any further world level ambitions. The only thing Rebrasse that could possibly cause Groves some problems is his jab. He seems to have a decent jab if nothing else.

Think you have a point Lefty......be worrying if it is not easy stuff for George after a few, understandable shake-out rounds.Rebrasse's last fight .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KwAwQzMLTg .... if Groves cant deal with that guy then he needs to give up any further world level ambitions. PS - that You Tube clip you posted has got the great Nino Benvenuti in it. Now there's an ex-champ looking well and sorted!

Re: George Groves
Did anyone see the poll on tonights Ringside?
Who would become Britains first Olympic Gold medallist to win a world title?
Joshua won it with 40 odd%,then DeGale not far behind
Luke Campbell only got 5% but Audley got 21%

Yeah it wasn't a huge bomb, but it was just one of those shots that landed perfectly.lefty wrote:I dont think it was that great of a shot. Groves just doesnt have the best beard. That shot was living proof that timing beats speed. Carl timed that perfectly.Boxerbeetle wrote:Yeah it wasn't a huge bomb, but it was just one of those shots that landed perfectly.lefty wrote:I dont think it was that great of a shot. Re: George Groves
I haven't seen him clocked on it enough times to be fair, but I'd say the punch that Froch somehow got him with would have put a lot of boxers away. Groves seemed to be on the point of throwing one of his own, he was vulnerable at that moment. Most guys would have been flopped I reckon.Old Jack J wrote:Groves is a fantastic boxer. A real talent. Re: George Groves
That punch was a perfect punch, it had everything a boxer desires in the sweet science. Power, timing, balance, accuracy. And that 10times out of 10 beats all chins in the world.
The punch george landed on carl that flattened him, if it came after 8hsrd rounds would have put him to sleep regardless of his chin and warrior mindset.
Groves will win this weekend and head over to fight dirrell and will be world champ by May next year ready to set up another clash with carl. Imagine if smith some how's beats Abraham, froch I reckon would keep fighting until he held all 4 titles

Because he got KO'd by a known puncher? You're a real bright one.Old Jack J wrote:His only weakness seems to be his chin.
