Why are some Boxing matches recorded as 3 x 1 minute rounds?.

I thought 1 minute rounds didn't exist?.

In the modern era, one minute rounds are contained to either exhibitions or 'Toughman' contests.

At the turn of the 20th century, with the advent of Edison's kinetescope, rounds often were shortened to adjust to the loading/reloading of those early cameras. Later on--- the concept that the longer the fights went, the more money were to be made off the receipts came into play, so alot of fighters did pre-arranged agreements to spar for ten-fifteen rounds and then let loose afterwards.
