Why are there so many on the WMMA train, there are several girls who compete in both sports, but guys that follow boxing seems to be more hostile!!

The technique to perform in the sports are a little different ofc, but the physical form a girl must be in is the same. You can't be the best in either sport and be in bad condition.

Hostile?!?! The other guy threw out the "for a woman" disclaimer & I just made fun of that. I'd hardly call it hostile. Its jokes. Why are people so damn serious about a sport with so little competition & depth in it that they accuse a guy of hostility for making jokes?

I could follow it if I wanted. Only 43 boxers in Cecilia's division. Thats what I'm taking about.

i'm not into bridget's tat's. that's just a matter of preference to me.
some guys might like her but that is just preference. i wouldn't say her stature makes
her unattractive, though. also not sure what she does for a living to compare her to others.
i could see braek having the skills to compete with most male local golden gloves champs
here in the usa, but there would probably be a strength difference. it's all relative. i also watch
women's tennis while conceding that serena williams would probably lose to most guys in the
bottom 50. i watch women's track knowing the very best wouldn't even qualify to enter the top
men's national competitons. i really don't care how women compare against guys, as long as they
have put in the work and cecilia definitely has. does it hurt that she's beautiful? nope.
this is a boxing forum and with all the stuff people talk about on here there is more than
enough room for the top women boxers. also, boxrec active boxers list only has maybe
half the licensed boxers, if that. holly holm is probably still licensed but i think is in the ufc
right now, for example. women's mma has less depth than women's boxing by far and
i never hear anyone say the same stuff about rousey. it might be interesting to see braek
sign a 2 fight deal with holmes, one on nordic fight night and one in the ufc. braek is a converted
kickboxer and would probably need to work on avoiding takedowns and grappling, but i'd
most definitely watch both.

If we triple boxrec's numbers its still just 129 boxers. Still not a very impressive division to be reigning over depth wise imho.

Just so you can hear it...There isn't much depth in women's MMA. Ronda gets extra attention imho cuz she stops people. In combat sports stopping people gets eyes on you. Deontay Wilder has hardly done anything & cuz he's stopping guys he's getting eyes on him. Mike Tyson become a worldwide entity due to his ability to stop people after a relatively short period in the sport let alone on top. Stopping people can get fans not giving a f#ck about the depth of a division or your competition.

Something I don't get about the whole "depth" argument. IF you have a division of 1,500 people but only 5 are talented is that really any deeper than a division of 12 fighters who are all VERY talented? Depth is surely about quality just as much as quantity when it comes to "talent pools".

Saying that, the 147lb women's division isn't hugely strong and Braekhus has beaten pretty much every notable fighter in it.

i see what he's saying, though. there are around 30 golden gloves franchises in the usa, many with sub
tournaments below them and then national golden gloves. of course usa boxing tournaments from local to
national and pal, and think of all the brigade level boxing in the armed forces going up to their elite program,
and junior olympic for kids. think of how long the national level amateurs you can think of have been doing it.
many start as kids and put so much time into it, and many are good athletes in lots of sports to begin
with. now look at how many go pro and how far they get in the pros. some like wilder get into it late
and can get far on athleticism and size, but especially in the lower classes the skill level is pretty high
to compete at national amatuer level, and to compete internationally in europe also.
in women's tennis, you do see women who start really young and live the life their whole
lives until they make it to the tour, but women's boxing even at the world amateur level
has trouble finding enough women to put together a tournament, even letting novices in,
and i'm not so sure women's pro is much higher skill level than amateur.
i have no interest in watching most women box, but the top women i'll watch, the same way
i like watching good 6-8 round club fights held in hotel ballrooms and high school gyms,
and golden gloves and good amateurs.

Well sure quality is the whole thing we're talking about. I mean look @ the HW's. There are about a thousand HW's ranked on Boxrec. About 1/3 of them are defined as being US HW's. And I think there is one perhaps two guys in the top ten who are US HW's. There seems to be a lot of quantity, but the quality is a bit low. In comparison the UK has 39 guys outta a thousand who are listed as HW's & there are two top ten UK HW's listed. Not much quantity, but a lot of quality. I think when we are adding it all up though with quantity comes quality just cuz competition breeds improvement. If you are the best boxer in bumf#ck, Iowa & you go to NYC for a fight with the best NYC boxer more often than not I think you are in for a harsh reality break, but sure sometimes that Iowa guy is gonna be Michael Nunn. Its a numbers game with some chance involved due to skill, desire & talent.

You are absolutely right on that argument Reggie, but remember boxing is illegal in Norway, but Braekhus is the best of thousands and thousands of pro and amateur boxer in the world. And she was a world champion kickboxer before turning to boxing ;)
