Washington looked vulnerable vs Nagy Friday

Post by TheBeast »

8 heavyweight
Gerald Washington 13(10)-0-0
vs
Nagy Aguilera 19(13)-8(2)-0

Washington wins by Decision
Not very impressive by Washington
Washington played the patient gameplan
When he tried to stop Nagy half way it didn't work
He then looked puzzled, passive and was pressured by a done Nagy

Washington really hated getting hit. Nice jab in the early rounds. Both guys had surprisingly nice jabs. Nagy's stock went up even with the loss. Nagy vs Andy Ruiz or Charles Martin would be interesting.

Give Washington some credit . . he had less AM experience than Wilder and his resume is practically as good as Deontay's after 14 fights.

Great fight for his career. He went all the rounds against a tough veteran who wasn't going to be KO'd easily. He used his jab well. He got cut from a headbutt. He took some pretty good shots which shows his toughness. He was clearly tired and he almost finished with a KO if the bell hadn't rang in the 8th round. He's proved that he has a chin unlike Wilder and Mitchell. He proved that he can go all the rounds more than Wilder. He does has some work to do but he's more than capable of doing big things in the division.

I agree. for a late start he did not fight bad opponents. he probably won't win a world Champion but developed some OK skills at a rather advanced Age for an athlete.

Gerald clearly lacks talent. Given his age, I don't think he will go very far at all. He isn't very good at winning exchanges, and he ends-up having to always be on the run because of inability to keep his opponent off of him. I can't envision his career amounting to much more than being a sacrificial lamb for someone like Jennings or Ruiz Jr..

I'm sure he'll improve a bit from the experience. After a struggle like that, you realize that it's better to strain while training than to show-up to a fight unprepared.

It's a good result in that he gritted out the win. But overall it shows his level is far below where you think he is, at least at the moment. He's a football player who boxes. Unless something VERY special happens in training over the next few years, that is what he will remain.

Just out of curiosity, why do you feel the need to use his nickname in every post? I mean, yeah we see the pun...

Hey guys, I just googled black cocks, and I'm still no closer to having any idea what y'all are talking about.

Maybe Gerald "the black cock" Washington could take on Darnell "the Ding a ling man" Wilson to get a nice measuring stick of skill . Wilson is still fresh off of his upset win vs Rodriguez.

I don't believe The Ding-A-Ling Man has fought since his upset over Rodriguez. Boxing is Strange.

I personally felt Nagy did enough to win or you could have scored it a draw

Just watched the fight. I still give Washington props for facing stiff comp so early, but man he looked horrible. I don't see how anyone could score that fight better than a draw; no way did Washington win 5 rounds . . he's lucky Aguilera wasn't in better shape or he would've been stopped for sure. His reaction to basic pressure was not good at all.

Whenever he steps up to top 15-esque competition he's going to get knocked out.

I look forward to seeing him fight some of the European fighters like Tyson Fury or Glazkov when his skill level moves up. I don't see any of those guys lasting against Washington.
