Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Benny Leonard
Tough call. Guess I would have to go with Leonard on this one.

Would favor Leonard given his volume punching and ring generalship, but not sure he could handle Leonard's speed.

My heart says Leonard, but my head says Leonard.
Re: Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Benny Leonard
I just can't see how Leonard wins this...Leonard by 15 round decision.

Interesting to see how three out of four voters see Leonard winning by decision.

Re: Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Benny Leonard
Should this fight ever have happened, it would likely be at Welterweight given that I can't see Ray dropping down to meet Benny at 135. In such an event, a prime Sugar would have all the advantage in the world and frankly I can't see BL standing much of a chance against a man who was his superior in almost every category..
I went with Ray Leonard via KO or stoppage over Benny Leonard.

Re: Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Benny Leonard
Ray by highly competitive decision. Benny was vastly superior defensively and his movement would have given anyone fits. Close fight, gotta take the naturally bigger fighter but it's not like benny never mixed it up with an ATG welter.
Re: Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Benny Leonard
Ray would win by a 10-5 verdict.Benny is a great one, but Ray is the man.
Re: Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Benny Leonard
benny leonard by a knockout in 7. sugar ray leonard was overated.
sugar ray would be way out of his class.........

SRL was "...his superior in almost every category"!? Wow, it's hard to imagine anyone having that opinion.drunkenpiper36 wrote:Should this fight ever have happened, it would likely be at Welterweight given that I can't see Ray dropping down to meet Benny at 135. I'm in the camp that SRL was the naturally bigger man and would probably take this in a close decision, but BL was one of the most gifted boxers in history and certainly was capable of beating SRL. I could see the early rounds going poorly for SRL as he tries to box BL before turning more aggressive and using his size and strength to pull it out.

A fair point.
