Dann & Haskins back in action

Post by jomothepure »

I was going to start a thread asking what was planned for these two, but now I don't have to. I'm sure Jamie Sanigar can fill in the facts and confirm things, but in the meantime boxrec schedule shows:

10th Feb (Pavillions, Plymouth)

Dann v James Obede Toney http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=065473

For the Commonwealth title which Toney picked up last year.

Haskins v Vuyani Kheswa http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=105926

For the Commonwealth Flyweight title. Is this the same opponent that didn't come about the last time? I'm sure it began with a K anyway

Well done to Dann (and the Sanigars) for his Sports Personality award (again) :TU:

Hopefully Toney will pass the drugs test

Good fight - for both Brits, I'd favour both - Haskins strongly. It would be good to see Dann add the Commonwealth belt, it will do him no harm whatsoever.

Very good matchups, it's going to be a tough night for Dann and Haskins based on the records.

The first three months of 2006 is looking amazing at the moment :TU:

I think its the right time for Dann to make the step into International Level. The last thing we wanted to do was let him stay at domestic level for too long. Its important for fighters to continue their progression. Toney is dangerous 20 wins (18 KO's) but when you step up thats the risk you take.

Haskins was originally set to box Sithembele Kibiti for the vacant Commonwealth Title in Sept but Kibiti failed the brain scan on his arrival in the UK. It was too late to arrange another opponent for the title. Vuyani Kheswa was ordered by the Commonwealth Boxing Council. It has been long overdue for Haskins. We have big hopes for him.

Hats off to the Sanigars (again) for coming up with two excellent Commonwealth title matches. :TU:

Toney appears dangerous to say the least but I'm sure Dann will have taken away a lot from his last win over Elcock. That, his own punch power and tremendous home support gives him an excellent chance.

I might be a brum lad , but the west country scene is my fav.

I honestly think that Dan Guthrie is going places , he will bounce back from his stoppage defeat and do big things trust me.

Guthrie can really punch and he is a good boxer , ABA champion in 2004.

well it is maybe a big test as a debut but as you said your 25 and starting out so why not go for it?a defeat at the beginning from a good opponent will be not too much of a loss-if indeed you lose.

i say go for it,by the way whats your amateur record?
