Give me your opinion of canelo not fighting kirkland and taking the fight with clottley. An act of cowardice?

Who says he's not fighting Kirkland because he's worried about what would happen? Didn't Kirkland also reject a huge amount to face Canelo a few years back?

I heard the opposite, that Kirkland is the one basically turning down every fight offered to him.

I read that canelo evaded kirkland but that's something they know. All I know is Canelo vs Kirkland is a little more attractive than Canelo vs Clottley.

Where did you read this? Kirkland already turned down one fight with Canelo and there is ample evidence that he's responsible for making poor decisions that are keeping him out of the ring. I'd be more surprised if Canelo 'evaded' him due to a lack of courage than if Kirkland turned down another offer.

Kirkland couldn't have had Canelo this time around, but he was going to fight Rosado this time around with a likely future Canelo fight, provided he keep winning.
But he felt like he was promised X amount of money, when the X amount was the total amount, before fees and splits. So when he found out the actual amount, he felt cheated and he threw the Rosado fight away and is now in promoter's limbo.
The powers that be sound like he's close to burning his bridges and losing whatever earning potential he has left.

That seems to happen a lot with Kirkland. He seems to pop up every so often now a days. He's either hurt, in jail, or has other issues.

Or he just lost love for boxing.

Why would Alvarez be afraid of Kirkland?

Why was he afraid of Floyd?

Maybe he gets scared of people, He gave Floyd all the respect in the world.

I love Maidana ( but hes limited next to a great like Floyd) but if Canelo would have just let his hands go, like Marcos it would have been competitive. was he really scared of Floyd Knocking him down/out?

a Bigger man, not even attempting to exchange with floyd-- EH- dude was in over his head

I don't think he was scared to be knocked out. He was just out of his depth technically and quickly got discouraged when he realized that Floyd had an answer for him even before he asked every question, metaphorically speaking.
He started overthinking and hesitating before every movement and quickly became a gun-shy, sitting duck.
He's still just a kid though, and that schooling will better him as a fighter, I have little doubt.
Glenn Johnson once said that he thought he was awesome until Bernard Hopkins outfoxed and beat him in every technical way, to such an extreme degree that he came out of that fight thinking he actually sucked and as a result he re-dedicated himself and wound up doing big things in the sport.
The experience level Canelo has at this young age already is pretty impressive- this cat, if he has the hunger to keep improving and challenging himself now that he's already "made it" and is one of the few PPV fighters, could easily be a next level kind of star by the time he's 30.
But things can change on a dime for a multitude of reasons, so I'm interested in seeing Canelo's career play out.

It makes me laugh to regularly read accusations posed by casual fans of the sport citing fear as the main reason why certain fights aren’t being made… when they can’t be bothered to research the political landscape and the historical actions of both pugilists.

Yep, if you're an A side PPV fighter, you duck one or more fighters every time you choose one.
I think if someone data-mined this forum, the word "duck" in any of it's forms, would probably be one of the most used words here. (Aside from the utter-most used words in the language like "the", of course..)
