Wilder says Don King/Stiverne are "scared" to sign
Deontay Wilder wants his fight with Bermane Stiverne to be signed and official, but Don King and his man Bermane Stiverne seem to want to delay it as long as possible.

I think there will be some good expectation for this matchup of Heavyweights. I think the last fight of Wlad vs. Haye there was some good anticipation in leading up to the fight.
Now we have a even better one I think. Stiverne vs. Wilder.
Really looking forward to seeing this. Im favoring Wilder by KO. 55-45 chance 60-40 not sure.

Whilst Wilder should have made a step-up some time ago, his reluctance to has provided one of the most high profile, difficult to predict heavyweight fights in recent years.
We finally get to see how good Wilder may be.
I imagine this situation is similar to a birthday for those born on February 29th.

As I have said in a previous post.Stiverne has done nothing since beating Arreola.
He has been on a wild world wide party spree.I think Stiverne will not be prepared

Stivern can take some crazy punches, i predict it to be similar fight to the 2nd fight with Arreola, Wilder dominating in the beginning and Stivern knock him out in late rounds.

Wrong. Look at the gaps stiverne had since Austin fight. Once a year. He is fine if anything the wilder fight is too soontiny_acres wrote:As I have said in a previous post.Stiverne has done nothing since beating Arreola.

Too soon? Other than the Arreola fights, Stiverne has looked quite bad. He was losing against Austin and I think Stiverne had a draw with a guy with a .500 record. Arreola may have been more washed up than anyone realized. Stivern'e ridiculous long layoffs have not been helpful.
Stiverne is celebrating his victories as if anyone else but him cares.

This..Stiverne has into a party crazed machine. And I do agree that Arreola may have been more washed up
then most of us thought.
Re: Wilder vs. Stiverne is on for Dec 13 or Dec 20, no purse bid
I guess for this fight it is more of a display of Wilder's chin than Stivernes. (Although only one of them has been KO'd) Stiverne has two good wins, both against Arreola. If Stiverne wins all the hype regarding Wilder will be true. If Wilder wins, I sense a more critical croud that will come in and say blah blah blah. Move the goal post.
Re: Wilder vs. Stiverne is on for Dec 13 or Dec 20, no purse bid
I'm pretty sure an exciting KO producing American heavyweight has an audience basically just waiting there to praise him, when the time comes.Badhusker wrote:I guess for this fight it is more of a display of Wilder's chin than Stivernes. This isn't Floyd Mayweather's career we are talking about here. It isn't about "moving goalposts" it's about having real top opponents at some point. If he blows out Stiverne, or even better, faces opposition but prevails, people will give him his due. And rightfully so.
Re: Wilder vs. Stiverne is on for Dec 13 or Dec 20, no purse bid
You wish. Wilder isn't good enough to ever necessitate the moving of goalposts. The skeptics of David Price never had to move any goalposts after his victory over Tony Thompson, because there never was a victory. The skeptics of Seth Mitchell never had to move any goalposts, although kudos to him for winning 1 of his 3 fights against so-so contenders / good gatekeepers.Badhusker wrote:I guess for this fight it is more of a display of Wilder's chin than Stivernes. On the other hand, if he did win, I have more respect for Stiverne than almost anyone else on this forum does, and I'm not just going to start saying Stiverne was a hype job if he were to lose. Anyone who beats him is a very good fighter.
The irony is that a lot of Wilder's nuthuggers are like "Wilder will win, because Stiverne is garbage, and almost lost to Ray Austin, and also Arreola is garbage, so that win isn't good either." Okay, Wilder's nuthuggers, put Stiverne down before the fight, because you're just diminishing the value of that scalp yourselves. Don't blame the haters for diminishing Stiverne, it's the nuthuggers who did that.

Not sure who qualifies as a Wilder nuthugger. But here are a couple facts: Stiverne ballooned since his last fight and is the one putting off the Wilder defense. Wilder has a perfect record, which at the very least makes him interesting.
Wilder may get KOd in one round by Stiverne. The reverse may also be true. That's what makes this interesting. A "nuthugger" to me, is someone who would talk about Wilder as a sure thing. I haven't read that here.

Re: Wilder vs. Stiverne is on for Dec 13 or Dec 20, no purse bid
Anyone care to predict the opening odds?
Who do you think will be favored?
I'll go with the powerful but untested Wilder as a 9-5 choice.
Stiverne is a huge step up, but frankly, he's probably just an ordinary heavy. If Wilder's power is legitimate, and I believe it is, he should KO the "champ" within 5 rounds.
But lets see if Stiverne finds a reason to pull out of this one.

I still have not seen anything from Stiverne on his facebook or twitter about this fight.
Re: Wilder vs. Stiverne is on for Dec 13 or Dec 20, no purse bid
It will be a good win for whoever comes out on top. If Wilder uses his jab well, uses his reach advantage, and avoids a lot of inside fighting I don't think Stiverne has much of a chance. If Wilder is able to hit Stiverne as much as Arreola did Stiverne won't end the fight on his feet. The question is not about Wilder's power, it is his chin that remains to be tested.
