They should feed Bute to him, then test him with Pascal. If he passes, then Kovalev.
Haha. I don't know if Bute's team would want that. Pascal and Beterbiev train together so I imagine they wouldn't have them fight each other so soon, if ever. I'm not too informed on the Canadian landscape but they're probably going to continue to bring in outside opponents for the near future.

He certainly has enough confidence to fight Kovalev, as he defeated Sergey in amateurs.

Beterbiev was stopping way more opponents with headgear than Kovalev. Kovalev is a better boxer though.

Beterbiev is more like a cruiserweight. I think he could take Kovalev's power better than Kovalev could take his. It would be one sick fight. HBO is probably going to pick Artur up, so if Kovalev handles business with Hopkins, I think the fight will happen fairly soon. And Adonis gets to duck another guy that would put him to sleep.

headgear or not, when you beat somebody you beat somebody. doesnt matter if it is pro or amateur, a win is a win and a win always means something.

Kovalevs chin is kind of suspect, plus he got stopped in the amateurs by some guy who I am not familiar with.

It's amusing when the forum experts can't spot a champion turned into a journeyman. Lol

Betterbiev is excellent fighter, and he always was. That's the reason why I had no doubts he would beat Cloud even without facing any decent opponents in the pros prior to this fight. Not only he is a monstrous puncher, but he also cuts off the ring very well. I know, Cloud is shot and even in his prime he was one of the weakest title-holders, but to beat him in such a style as Artur did is extremely impressive. Add here he had only 5 fights against bums, and it makes this win even more impressive. I think Betterbiev will have much better pro career than his countryman Mekhontsev. Artur was excellent amateur, world champion. Here is list of his wins in Team World Cup in 2006:

Defeated Ismayl Sillakh (Ukraine) KO 2 - one punch KO
Defeated Thabiso Mchunu (South Africa) RSC-OS 3 - Mchunu is BoxRec #3 in cruiserweight division now
Defeated Yunier Dorticos (Cuba) RSCI 1 - Dorticos is one of the best prospects in the cruiserweight division now

He also beat Kovalev and is 1:1 with Abos Attoev, who KO'ed Kovalev.

The reason why Betterbiev didn't get as much attention from boxing fans as he deserved was his failure to win medals in the recent amateurs biggest tournaments - Olympic Games (2012) and World Championship (2011). He just got extremely unlucky, because he happened to meet great Oleksandr Usyk in the quarterfinals both times.

This guy is a very welcome addition to 175. Him and kovalev would be two freight trains colliding.

I can't wait to see how lightheavy pans out. I just hope ward moves up and doesn't avoid these guys.

kovalev/hopkins getting made is huge for the division. It will mean Sergey has a platform to be a draw and be seem as the man. Ward will have no option but to fight him if he wants that mantel. Then this new guy will be ready in two or three years for the top too. I fully expect Adonis to have been found out by then. He's the pretender in this mix.

His loss to Attoev was was an outrageous robbery similar to Roy Jones Jr's "loss" in Olympics.

I don't think there will be many robberies in his pro career, because a very few of his fights will go the distance
