How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
not necessary by record, but by "who beats who!", who is the best. diablo had a better record than drozd, so there goes the theory the man with the better record is better than the man with the less good record.
1. Guillermo Jones (it wasnt drugs that beat lebedev, but gj simply being better than lebdev. GJ looks fat and untrained but beats strong guys impressivly)
2. Denis Lebedev (arguably the strongest 1 punch in c-div., beat Huck, anybody who watched that fight knows it, still top)
3. Yoan Pablo Hernandez (great size and reach, good power, well rounded technic, could be higher if he bulked up a bit)
4. Marco Huck (always fun to watch him, but his wild style would be his downfall against strong punchers like lebedev or hernandez, open like that, over)
5. Dimitry Kudryashov (rare power, gets outworked by 1-4, but t/ko's most other c-boxers)

It was a water loss drug Jones tested positive for, so yes you can say the drugs beat Lebedev. As Lebedev was fighting a heavy weight.Chepppaaa wrote: 1. Re: How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
Cruiserweight is a very good division....me living in the US, its hard for me to watch these guys. To see guys like Lebedev,Huck...etc i have to watch streams. I wish HBO or SHowtime would give these guys a chance. Dorticos looks goods and seems to be tv friendly, We already know Lebedev, Huck,Wlod r fun to watch so I truly don't understand.
Re: How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
c-div is no division where there is a 1 obvious p4p super star like at middleweight with GGG or 154 with canelo and lara. but c-div is deeper than most of the other division. a deep pool of good boxers, strong punchers. like you said dorticos is good, than there is diablo, grozd, than tabiti from the mayweather camp also looks promesing....so many good boxers...one of my favourite divisions. and they come to hurt each other, not like welterweight with runners like floyd or featherfisted boring fighter like devon or bradley.
Re: How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
It's hard to say who is #1. Can Jones even make the weight without the help of drugs? Twice in a row he hasn't been able to, now he's going to be on another vacation. I think someone like Mchunu would counter Jones all night and win a decision.
Too bad Huck and Hernandez will never fight but I don't see Hernandez' chin holding up in that one.
The division has always been overlooked and it's never been as stacked as it is now, but most of the champions aren't fighting each other and that's killing what little interest that remains in the division.

Usyk looks like he could potentially be the best of the bunch. If you like Beterbiev you will love Usyk.
Re: How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
I don't know how I forgot to mention Usyk. His team already wants to fight Huck.
I would suggest getting in a few more fights first, and it looks like they're doing that. Beterbiev fought well with Usyk too. Both excellent amateurs turned pro.

damn i totaly forgot usyk. he is arguably #1 already, thats how good he is. certainly a future p4p top 15 guy.
such a deep division.
i just hope they make more solid cards like todays, with this rich russion dude who made this good card today.
Re: How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
1. Hernandes
2. Lebedev
3. Huck
Usyk is the main contender.
Guillermo Jones is an old man drugged up to eyeballs.

Re: How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
Hernandez, Huck, Lebedev, Drozd, and Mchunu in some order.
Re: How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
I'm a little surprised seeing people with Hernandez at #1 honestly. He looks really vulnerable to me.
With Jones more or less out of the picture, I guess I'll say Huck. I'd have a better idea if Wlod had gotten to fight yesterday where I'd have him. Mchunu is quite good as well, Lebvedev is somewhere in there of course.

Haye should go back in here and clean up .... (injury permitting and his availablility to get back to 90% where he was when he unified.)

I thought for sure BJ Flores would of been the champ by now...
The cruiserweight division has alot of excitement and competitive fights... but damn, they aint marketed right.

Re: How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
What is good in CW division is that there are 4-8 fighters on top of about the same strength. None of them is a super star, but they can make a lot of entertaining fights.HomicideHenry wrote:I thought for sure BJ Flores would of been the champ by now...

On a scale of Can't Miss TV to yawn I've always found the Cruiserweight division to be closer to yawn even when they've had some good fights & p4p or near p4p level guys. I unfairly see it as like a also ran Heavyweight division or a Future Heavyweight sorta divisions for guys who don't want such big weight differences right now even though obviously a guy can live out his entire career @ CW. Its always been the least compelling division for me of the bigger weight divisions. I am biased against it.

I am the one guy who actually follows and enjoys the cruiser division. It is and has been
one of my favorites.
one of my favorites.
Re: How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
Well I imagine that was pretty important! The fact that he was using diuretics to get himself down to the cruiserweight limit and then rehydrating to looking like he compete with the likes of Wlad and the bigger heavweights in the weight and size department!Chepppaaa wrote:not necessary by record, but by "who beats who!", who is the best. diablo had a better record than drozd, so there goes the theory the man with the better record is better than the man with the less good record.

You think? I think there styles are very different. Usyk seems more a elusive to me. More of a slick boxer in the fights ive watched. He presses forward but is still very aware of what is coming back at him which i like. He's cerebral but fun with it.Boxing Prospect wrote:Usyk looks like he could potentially be the best of the bunch. If you like Beterbiev you will love Usyk.

Re: How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
Yeah I think so. They are different but similar. Both are monsters, both hit like mules and both are aggressive. Usyk is, as you say more elusive and smart, though I reckon if you like one you will generally like the other due to the similarities.lefty wrote:You think? I think there styles are very different. both huck and hernandez look vulnerable. its because every boxer had weaknesses and both YH and MH have ups and downs, sometimes thy train not 100 % and than close UD or MD came up against firat or olafabi, but when huck decides to train 100 % and its firat KO. same goes for hernandez, but the guys he has been beating, simply impressiv, cunningham, ross, i mean these are strong dudes.
Re: How would you rank Cruiserweight division?
Hernandez vulnerability has nothing to do with training or a lack thereof. He's just vulnerable. The fact that you'd cite the Ross fight kind of makes the point for me. Huck is better. He should have held a heavyweight belt ffs.Chepppaaa wrote:Bobbyptsd wrote:I'm a little surprised seeing people with Hernandez at #1 honestly. He looks really vulnerable to me.
