Enough about smiths performance, what about AA's?

Post by hurlock »

Your thoughts please.

I personally felt like Abraham couldn't sustain an attack & only really tried to put it together when Paul hit him with a body shot, that being any body shot & I felt if he could sustain it he'd of had Paul out who kept coming back gallantly & towards the end of the fight AA fired some solid looking jabs & Paul couldn't get out the way & again came back once again.
Abraham normally does well in returns & I think he'd stick it on Paul & train to keep it on Paul, maybe he don't have it there??? & I think Paul would come back out to really work that body over & work towards a Kate stoppage?

Smith isnt stopping Abraham. If anyone would be getting stopped in a rematch, it would be Smith.

Lefty every time his body hot touched he winced!!!& came back lively as if to say fvck off with the body shots. He had sweat gear on in the open session at the shopping centre & there was rumours circulating he'd not been training etc. maybe smiths missed his chance?? I didn't like how smith started to say about AA driving to a gym in a Ferrari & how he wouldn't even want a Ferrari if he had the readies when he drives a range and don't even own the Lonsdale & AA fought after he had his jaw busted I think he's earner the right to even wear ugg boots if he wants!!

He always fights in spurts, but usually after a slow opening 2-3 rounds he maintains a stable workrate that is higher than the one he produced this fight. I thought he blocked a sizable majority of Smith's attacks, I don't recall Smith landing too many clean shots, and I think he's endured comparable attacks in other fights without being worn down, so I tend to think that him being out of his usual shape and having an off night were significant factors in him looking more tired than usual and thus the bout's competitiveness. Abraham has generally looked mediocre over his last several fights anyway, with several unspectacular challengers taking him 12, so combine a faded champion with a poor performance and an inspired but limited challenger, and I think you get something like the bout we saw.

As for a rematch, I really doubt that Smith would stop AA as you suggest. The latter is fairly durable and I think he has more room for improvement than Smith does.

I said work towards a stoppage Gallagher & smith himself knows Arthur has a granite jaw & body's get broken down! I feel if the was a rematch it would be explosive.

Watch the fight back & you'll see Abraham wince from body shots! Maybe you can't read it & see the signs??

Agree i think some of them body shots definetly hurt him . But with saying that AA has never been a great champ , but even so , i do think in a rematch he would be in much better condition , and prove to good

You really think I'll see Abraham wince whenever his body was touched? I'm fairly confident that my eyes are fine in this case and that if someone's having trouble interpreting what occurred it's you.

I'm not going to bother with trying to show that he wasn't hurt every time he was hit in the body, but it's believable that he was occasionally hurt by body punches. Could you give me the rounds when some of those instances happened?

I'm not that sad

I have watched it back & Paul did eat a lot of jabs which was good scoring punches which most of us supporting him chose to ignore!

AA is not the same force imo & I think a rematch would be a good fight & certainly won't go the distance

A rematch ain't warranted as he was a voluntary & the fact scores were ridiculously wide don't entitle him to a rematch
