Magomedrasul Medzhidov

Post by Boxing Writer »

Would love to see this guy turn pro, but it’s unlikely to happen at least until the next Olympic Games. Good skills, good chin, scary power. Heavyweight version of Artur Beterbiev. Two-times amateur world champion, Olympic bronze medalist. Beat all the best fighters of the recent years in the Superheavyweight division – defeated Anthony Joshua (very close fight but great win anyway), stopped Erislandi Savon (who is excellent fighter himself, and I’d like to see him turn pro too), beat Roberto Cammarelle and knocked him down hard in 2013, beat Magomed Omarov twice and Ivan Dychko twice (second time by the scary KO).

Here are his fights:

against Savon - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgQV66f8NHQ
against Cammarelle - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l571nQhHKG0
against Dychko (brutal KO) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3pkAQX_UtU

Yes, and did it in the great style. But it only shows how good Usyk is

Good news for you. He is turning pro in just a couple weeks - October 24th against Mihai Nistor of Romania (also making his pro debut). Here is an interview he gave about it:

"You were among the first boxers who decided to turn pro by joining AIBA Pro Boxing. What influenced you to come to that decision?
I have been considering going pro for a long time. However I was hesitating because I have a goal to go back to the Olympics and get a better result. This project provides me with a chance of doing both without giving up one or the other. I believe this is a major motivating factor for all the boxers who signed up for the project."

I personally think he already turned pro by participating in WSB but whatever.

Anyone heard anything on Albert Selimov, the guy who beat Lomachenko? That is a guy who should go pro as well. Nice looking southpaw, that guy.

He actually dropped Usyk, but it was an accidental low blow. I am surprised he is turning pro. But lets see how he does.

Amateur beast. Definitely a welcome addition to the pile of crap that is HW. Look forward to Joshua vs Mago down the line.
