The Ingles do a fantastic job and the gym style doesn't suit everyone though if Hatton had spent 12 months there he would have certainly had a few more skills in his arsenal.

Imagine trying to come up with 365 different excuses for not sparring Junior Witter. Terry Dooley would have needed help from Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton and Hans Christian Andersen.

If he had gone to Wincobank he wouldn't have been forced to box in that style and doing different things in training and looking out for and concentrating on other things would have improved his overall game, maybe?

I thought his footwork and angles were superb and Billy was an established, excellent trainer.

His training was shown up as being shite for the top level though. Ricky's footwork and angles were good vs domestic and WBS level fight but not as he stepped up. It's no secret he regressed after Tszyu but it prob started well before that. Him and Billy were drinking buddies don't think it did his career any good however he obviously had a great run and some good wins despite all of that.

They actually weren't "drinking buddies" at that point. I was there post-Kostya,a lot. They socialised separately. Tszyu was top, top level and it was close combat angles that beat him.

I had a top boxing brain back then, but Billy elevated my understanding of pressure fighters and to say Ricky didn't progress as he stepped up is pure nonsense. He had the style to trouble Kostya, but angles beat KT.

Ricky's main mistake was replacing Billy with the pure opposite in Mayweather Senior. That was a huge mistake and did for him. As I said on here at the time, and was Pariah'd for it.

You could copy this to the, quite frankly ludicrous, Ricky/Ingle thread. Ricky and Billy were a dream match. My only concession would be that, in the end, Billy needed a pad man, but you're in a pit of snakes so who do you trust?

Billy Graham possess the best boxing brain I've come across, and I've spoken to a fair few astute people.

Billy used to do his physical sessions, then the fighters would do scenario based movements. They'd talk through different in-ring possibilities. Graham's former fighters still talk about that side of training. It's a lost art. Steward did it with Lewis.

I've spent hours conversating with experts, if I was about to die, I'd request 10 mins boxing talk with Graham.

That's not just me, either, all of my biggest interviews have stemmed from the fact I've worked with Graham.

He's a fooking nutter, but he's our nutter.

The Ingle's clearly have had success and continue to do so and are a a very very good team.

Hatton wouldn't have worked with them and vice versa, the styles wouldn't have meshed, nothing wrong with that sometimes it is what it is.

Billy Graham was absolutely the right trainer for Hatton and he doesn't get the credit he deserves, his corner work in the Tszyu fight was right up there.

Don't think ricky would have took to the body sparring and 'lines'(no pun intended). It would have been the polar opposite of when Herol left Brendan and Oscar checa trained him for his 1st loss vs kalambay, told Herol he needed to be more aggressive

Though the Ingles have been very successful, the style might not have suited Ricky Hatton, it's like saying Ali would have been better if he gone with Fraser's trainer Eddie Futch, Hatton was a one off, he tried Mayweather sr, known for defence, he got knocked out, it did not work, Hatton developed his aggressive style from the streets of Manchester, Graham knew him better then anyone and knew how to get the best out of him.

Had Ricky beaten Floyd he would have gone on to PfP elite level. I personally thought he stopped slipping under jabs with the correct timing of counters consistently enough at the highest level and relied a little too much on his toughness after Tzyu. His head movement and body rolls/slips were at times almost perfect, but with any trainer Ricky would have had a mountain to climb to beat Floyd.

Well no doubt , if they trained him from a kid , he would off had a better defence ,, better footwork , but i doubt he would of been has succseful has he was .. .
