Fun guy to watch, especially as a junior flyweight and flyweight, where he was at his best.
He was well promoted/managed into big fights once he rose in weight, but some of his title belts were utter BS (he was given fights for vacant WBO belts at jr. bantamweights and bantamweights against the same, lame no-hope opponent, Angky Angkotta, a year apart).
He has a bit of a renaissance beating the limited Vazquez for the jr. featherweight, and he didn't back down from anyone. Biggest shame was that he never got to fight Wonjongkam when they held versions of the WBC flyweight belts in 2005 and 2006. In the past decade, he's generally lost to top-level, prime or near prime opposition, but again, he's been fun to watch in every fight and is a real fighters fighter.

Definitely a HOF calibre guy. Entertaining and gutsy.

Yes, it's time for him to hang them up, he certainly doesn't belong in the ring with feathers.
He says he'll retire but he's barked that bark several times before. Have a suspicion that we'll see him again sometime in early 2015. As I said once before, you can't retire "El Travieso."

It was painful to watch last night...Are down 4 times... Gonzalez carrying him in the late rounds out of respect... Corner should've stopped it but Arce was going ballistic when the idea of a stoppage was suggested.... The ref had to pull the plug....

Arce looked pretty bad in his previous fight too... Retire IMO, unless it's only to fight easy wins

Tough, but incredibly overhyped and not HOF worthy if admission had an ounce of credibility.

A lot of respect for Arce. He has always been a treat to watch and he went out fighting with heart, like he always did.

Will probably get HOF due to his popularity. However, his accomplishments do not merit the honor... IMO.

if you provide some of the sports best fights, your contribution to the sport should be reconized. IMO earning the FOTY is a great accomplishment for the good of the sport. Arce gave tremendous blood and guts performances. a little like Gatti. They weren't great technical fighters and have losses vs the bests. But their sacrifice in the ring for the fans should be reconized.

Well put... Can't really argue with that.
