There is a vulnerability creeping in there, as evidenced in his first fight with non-puncher Sturm. I think he will get stopped here.Like a Boss wrote:The Aussie is getting more brittle? Re: Soliman vs Jermain Taylor
I doubt Taylor will be the one coming from behind, as he has a history of fading while Soliman's engine is consistently good.
Re: Soliman vs Jermain Taylor
I just saw some Instagram videos of Jermain.. I'm not sure if this was the case before social media, but he seems to have a screw loose these days. I guess despite the big shots he has taken, I thought he was still pretty sound of mind.
Think I will change my pick now.

Austrailian fighters don't travel well.
Taylor is still more skilled than Soliman, and he may be a little stronger. But, he is not ready for the kind of work that Soliman will bring.
BUT ... Taylor has hurt most of his opponents at some point in the fight. If he can hurt Soliman twice during this fight, I think JT can win.
BUT ... realistically, Soliman UD/Close.

Soliman did get his belt in Germany. Are you saying Aussies don't travel to America well ?BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Austrailian fighters don't travel well.

Re: Soliman vs Jermain Taylor
Don't understand how the worn, shot Taylor even got this fight, besides it being boxing and big names always sell.
Hasn't really done much of value since losing to Pavlik. Hasn't even fought in nearly a year since beating another over-the-hill opponent, JC Candelo.
Predict that Taylor will look pathetic and get stopped before the 9th round. Even against the light punching Aussie.
Can't really expect much of a matchup. It's on ESPN 2. That says it all.

If Taylor is in good form, he can take this. He has had trouble with power. I believe he is more skilled than Sam. But we will see.

Taylor sounds mentally ill. Listen to this:

Taylor has always been an asshole. But he's a product of his awful environment. Asshole or not I don't want to see any man physically harmed and he is definitely on his way to Meldrick Taylor territory. I hope he stops soon. Soliman isn't a big puncher but he's going to punch you in the face. A lot.

Yup.
Also, look at those videos people, & remember: the NSAC thinks that this man's brain (which has already suffered documented life-threatening permanent trauma) was a-okay to get punched some more.

There's a chance Soliman might get stopped here. That possibility exists in all fights. But Soliman hasn't lost a fight in six and a half years.polecateddy wrote:There is a vulnerability creeping in there, as evidenced in his first fight with non-puncher Sturm. In that time he has fought ten 12 round fights. Five of which have gone the full 12 rounds and he's looked in almost career best form lately.

Re: Soliman vs Jermain Taylor
Boxing news said that if Taylor is 60% of what he used to be then he will beat Soliman, this is why boxing news are useless at predicting fight results.
The smart money says Soliman wins this handily on points, if Taylor is more than 80% of what he used to be then he has a chance.

Re: Soliman vs Jermain Taylor
Taylor at his best or anywhere close to it would beat Soliman. But what version of Taylor will we see on the night? Soliman has been extremely consistent and his confidence is sky high at the moment.

When Hopkins said it, I think it was mostly for the camera. When Taylor said it, he sounds like a nasty asshole.

He just needs to fight a white boy Golovkin (who is also half Asian) to get his mind straightened.JCS wrote:

Re: Soliman vs Jermain Taylor
Should be a decent scrap, things are always intriguing when Taylor fights and last time i seen him against Candelo he's still got something but a years a long time when in your mid 30's boxing, obviously he's nowhere near what he used to have but he still has enough to beat B level fighters,I would class Soliman as B level but a tough one with a great engine and great whiskers,I was surprised Sam beat Sturm twice,i never seen the rematch but i seen the first fight where Soliman was juiced and i thought Felix nicked it by a round but it was close and i was dissapointed to hear Sam failed a test as he comes across as a decent, honest pro whose lost some close fights to good opposition
Soliman wins a close decision for me,cant see Jermain being effective enough back down at MW plus with all his outside distractions,Taylor is clearly troubled

Although I try to avoid it, I just had an American moment. Aussie's haven't done well in the US in big fight recently. Maybe it's the significant time difference.
I wonder how long Soliman has been in the US.

Soliman left for the US around September 15th. So he has been there for nearly 3 weeks.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:I'm sorry, you are right.ikorolev wrote:Soliman did get his belt in Germany. Are you saying Aussies don't travel to America well ?BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Austrailian fighters don't travel well.

Re: Soliman vs Jermain Taylor
Who is the referee for this bout ? I hope he is on his game. Whilst i have concerns jermaine could land a bomb and take Sam out, I am more concerned that Sam will land a multitude of head shots on taylor and whilst it wont have an immediate effect, such as a KO the damage it will be doing could be catastrophic. whilst Sam isnt the biggest puncher in the division he has an extremely high punch output. Remember sturms face after both their bouts was marked up and Sturm has very good defence. I think Soliman gets up in this if he boxes smart.
Re: Soliman vs Jermain Taylor
Taylor hasn't won a fight at the 160 limit since 2007. On top of being mildly rusty, 36, and having sustained a severe concussion; I think the cut to 160 on the nose will hurt him a bit. It's not like he's nowhere near making 160, but there's a reason that he's weighed above 160 for 8 straight fights.

Re: Soliman vs Jermain Taylor
It's an interesting fight. Soliman is 41 and confidence in his ability lately is based almost solely on having a g sign over increasing erratic Sturm. I wouldn't really put money on either guy with any degree of certainty.
