degale v periban.. massive fight

Post by mullenman »

chief support to Bellew v Cleverly is Degale V Periban

Marco Antonio Periban has not won any of his last three fights and the people he has fought have all been beaten since

Periban lost to Bika who has just lost to Dirrell

Periban drew with Bundu Jack who just got beat by Edwards

Periban lost to j'leon love who just got ko'd by a nobody....

this is not a good fight for degale and not worthy of chief support on a ppv bill

I thought it would be Periban, not the massive name i was hoping for but still a tough fight and one that will help DeGale progress

DeGale wins a clear decision providing he doesnt gas

I predicted this last week. I looked at the potential oppents, periban was the guy I really didn't want to see and the weakest opponent (rodriguez and bika were the other 2) so I was certain it would be him. Wish I wasent right.

Its an OK fight for DeGale and an easy win. Its not a statement fight as Bika, Kessler or Rodriguez would have been, nor does it help sell that infamous PPV. Another disappointment from mismatchroom.

This wouldn't even be DeGale's best win. I'd have been very happy with Bika or Rodriguez (the guy Ward fought last.) It hasn't been officially announced, it's just listed on boxrec which can sometimes happen based on incorrect rumour.

Almost all the clues led away from Periban towards Bika tho.

Not exact quotes but this was more or less what was said from the 'clues' via the IFL interviews.

'He's ranked something like 6 or 7 I think with one of the bodies.' - Bika is 6 with the WBC. Periban is 11. Can't see either in any of the other rankings unless there has been an update I haven't been able to see via the net.

'He lost in a WT fight recently and I (Kugan Cassius) was there.' - I wouldn't class last year as recently for Periban, and I don't know whether IFL went to that bill. Whereas Bika v Dirrell obviously was recent and IFL were there.

'It's a tough fight that I wouldn't take it if I was him because he is mandatory for Froch right now.' - I mean I just can't class Periban as a tough fight, whereas Bika would be one of those fights where you do say 'hold on, why the hell is he doing this?'

Like I say I'll hold fire and wait until the official announcement tomorrow but it just adds to the ammo against this PPV if it is DeGale v Periban.

Finally sky charging 15 nicker has been fully justified by this explosive eagerly awaited dual being announced.

Thank you eddie/sky knew you would come good, the gift to the fans that just keeps giving.

Good fight, considering one false move he would lose his shot at Froch. When it was announced that he would be on the card I thought he would be in with far worse.Hopefully the Quigg fight is the real chief support but this will do for Degale,he was never going to fight anyone better then this on this card and better then any fight he had on C5.I can see people slating anything on this card just because thy don`t agree with the ppv,I don`t agree with the ppv but there is a chance this will be better then the Mag 7 we shall see.

So in peribans last two fights he drew with Badou Jack who then did.

And lost to JLeon Love who then did

Well played Matchroom really does justify PPV for this card ......................NOT

Should have just put this on the O2 card at weekend it's been obvious for a while Degale wasn't goign to fight Froch until New Year not the worst guy to fight in the interim.

Periban may have a moment or two but it's another fight with lopsided odds for the MR fighter. Not very exciting........

The only thing I see that could make this somewhat interesting (although that's stretch) is that Periban is huge for super middleweight. Not so much height although he is tall aswell. He's pretty stocky. His size is about the only thing that could pose a problem I think.

He doesn't usually fight tall though and he falls in a lot.

I was thinking maybe he could just sort of lay on Degale until he's exhausted and the possibly chin him. That's in the realm of fiction though lol

I never, ever, ever thought I'd see the day I would prefer fish eyes to Fast Eddie.

What a w*nker he is becoming.

It all started so well too; I believed him when he talked about how he wanted to improve boxing, bring more 50/50 matches and stop the mismatches.

Why Eddie, why?

DeGale being on the card at all doesn't encourage to buy. I still haven't forgiven DeGale for how much of an insufferable bellend he was pre-Groves fight. I refused to buy the fight then, just because he was so annoying he didn't deserve my money. He does seem to be trying to be less of a tit lately, I guess. But I just don't like him.

I was still annoyed enough that he was added to Froch vs Groves, because I'd already decided to order the fight, and didn't want any of my money to go to DeGale. His presence doesn't make Bellew vs Cleverly any more PPV worthy, in my mind.

Personally I think this card is the type of card we should be getting at least a couple of times a year as part of the subscription package, no way PPV worthy
I'd rate the card a 'B' nothing more than that

I cant expect for Eddie to transform DeGales personality, he is what he is, but I do want a competitive fight. BTW what I remember Groves was nearly as annoying as DeGale and got far worse since then. Personally I'd rather listen to DeGales arrogant ass then that sad troll with all the charisma of a toilet seat.

I didn't say he could. Just personally stating what I feel about the card.

Which is that it isn't particularly worth paying for.
