Provodnikov v Castillo
Provodnikov v Castillo
Apparently Jose Luis Castillo ......... Yes Jose Luis Castillo is going to be Ruslan Provodnikovs next opponent !!!!!!!!!
This is shocking I didn't even know he was still fighting.
Shams the Rios fight isn't happening that would have been very entertaining/brutal.

Re: Provodnikov v Castillo
Terrible fight that I hope doesn't occur. Yesterday on BS I saw a headline akin to 'Provodinkov facing Castillo next' and my immediate thought was please not Jose Luis.
Rios-Provo makes me salivate, so I'm still hoping that happens.

Re: Provodnikov v Castillo
From what I read, nobody wants to fight Provo. Rios, Herrera, Bradley, Judah, Chaves, Vargas all declined. Castillo is a backup plan for the November Moscow fight.

Re: Provodnikov v Castillo
Fight is supposed to be held in November in that noble boxing hotbed, Russia.
It's not finalized but Castillo is the leading choice to be Provo's foe, unless Rod Salka is recovered and available.
No word if a furious bidding war between Showtime and HBO is underway for the rights to televise.

Re: Provodnikov v Castillo
I get that a lot of the big boys may not want to fight Provo, but he wasn't exactly devastating in his last major fight. And I fail to believe there are 100 guys at 140 and 147 ranked above the 40-year-old corpse of Castillo who all turned down the fight. I think this is about making money beating up a name, similar to Lebedev's oldies tour vs R. Jones and Toney.

Imagine how bad it would be if Lenin were alive and working as a matchmaker/promoter.Tarkus wrote:The place where the former legends are massacred in a gruesome ritual of human sacrifice.SenorPipino wrote:Fight is supposed to be held in November in that noble boxing hotbed, Russia.

As it is, I'm sure Putin will have a hand in this slaughter.

Omg what?!?
Dude might die.
This cannot happen.

Re: Provodnikov v Castillo
Out of Provodikov's 3 losses, the only one that was not controversial was the loss to Herrera. If I remember right Herrera beat him by UD by 3 or 4 rounds. I still would like to see Provo vs Pacquiao.

Re: Provodnikov v Castillo
I thought Provo beat Herrera hands down but I thought he lost against Algerie
Re: Provodnikov v Castillo
Let's say that all 3 fights were very close and he would likely be still undefeated if they happened in Russia.

I'm happy that Provodnikov is scheduled to fight and someone have balls to face him. On the other hand, this is absolute mismatch, JLC should retire.. I hope they get a better replacement.

I don't think he lost any of them.

A non-title fight? I can't see JLC making 140, but I guess anythings possible for a good payday.
I wonder how much has to be kicked in to get a fight like this sanctioned?

Agree. Plenty of guys would jump @ this fight who don't have as impressive names.giacomino wrote:I get that a lot of the big boys may not want to fight Provo, but he wasn't exactly devastating in his last major fight. Re: Provodnikov v Castillo
I am also wondering why Matthysse, Postol and Allakhverdiev haven't been asked or at least haven't been mentioned. They would all draw more in Russia than Castillo.

Re: Provodnikov v Castillo
I didn't realise Castillo was still fighting, although he shouldn't be. He offered Hatton no problems when they fought and that was many moons ago. Provodnikov could end this in the first round if he stepped on the gas.
I would love for Provodnikov to move up to welterweight and take on Keith Thurman.
That's a fight that would get everyone's pulse racing.

I thought JLC retired after that bodyshot KO from Hatton, when did they resurrect this fossil?

What? You found the balls to diss Mother Russia?
Keep your eyes open, comrade. The KGB are now watching you.
Re: Provodnikov v Castillo
I am not dissing them. Russian judges do the same thing as English, German, Argentinian and U.S. ones.SenorPipino wrote:ikorolev wrote:Let's say that all 3 fights were very close and he would likely be still undefeated if they happened in Russia.

I find it VERY hard to believe that this fight will actually happen.
