what do these fights have in common?

jack britton knocked out tommy o'keefe...2 rounds...philadelphia

lew tendler knocked out chick simmons....7 rounds...philadelphia

tommy loughran outpointed king solomon 10 rounds...philadelphia

They all took place on Christmas Day :P

Tommy Loughran also lost a decision to Harry Greb on Christmas Day two years before the Solomon fight :TU:

..christmas day it is!!!!...and may you and everyone here have a merry one.

there were a lot fights on christmas day in years past....back when workers were exploited even more than they are now.

most fights in the modern era occur between couples when they are putting up the tree.


the last christmas day boxing match i can find a reference to is in 1927...when young stribling outpointed maxie rosenbloom in ten rounds in boston. are there any others, i wonder.
