I think we need to be wary of going over board here on Joshua. Everyone was saying the same about Price 2 years ago.

Assuming Chisora loses to Fury next month he'd be a real test in about a years time.

The thing is, not everyone was when it came to Price. Plenty here, me included, questioned if he could win a title. I couldn't get past the hiding he got off Cammarelle and various other canvas visits as an am.

Price didn't have half the hype or attention that Joshua is getting.

The Cammarelle comparison is where like you I imagine determine Joshua will go further than Price.

I think Thompson would be a better first test before Price actually even though the former defeated the latter obviously.

Thompson looked poor against Takam. I'm not sure beating Solis again would prove anything about the Tigers current level.

As with any heavyweight its when someone punches them on the chin, if Joshua has a good chin he can go far.

How many times did he get floored as an amatuer ?

Personally thought he lost the first round of the Olympics and the final but was victim of a hometown decision in the worlds. Not a big amatuer fan though.

I know price got floored a fair bit in the amatuers and here is footage of Wilder getting wiped out by a russian

Yeah I've seen the footage of Wilder getting sparked in the ams, doesn't bode well for him but he has yet to face anyone willing to hit him back.

Price was down at least eight times as an am from what I know. Stiverne levelled him, the little Indian in the 2006 Commonwealhs dropped him a couple of times, Cammarelle had him bouncing off the canvas with every shot he landed, down 3 or 4 times in that one. Fury had him down too. Pretty sure a Welsh fighter had him over too.

Joshua is attracting more interest because he achieved more. Olympic Gold is way above Olympic Bronze and to be honest so is World Silver. Joshua is younger than Price was too and didn't have half the experience, which is key in the ams usually. Price had been an international for years before Beijing, Joshua had only stepped in to a boxing gym four years before 2012, famously so.

I like Price and want to see him do well, always have, but his chin won't ever hold up. I'm still not convinced he will ever be the same again after the Thompson fights. The second fight I think he lost because of his mentality, it got very tough, he was blowing and it almost seemed like he quit.

Joshua seemed to be blowing a little last night actually. I'm looking forward to seeing someone extend him, which will happen as I don't think he has massive power.
