Audley Harrison vs Shannon Briggs

Post by lefty »

Eddie mentions it as a possibility in this video. I quite like the fight myself! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7qEH_M ... 45eHFGAduw

Can't see that happening in a billion years. It would appear Audley may well end up on the bill, but I expect it to be a very easy 8 rounder.

I don't really want to see any more of Audley getting spanked inside the first round, standing there waiting to be hit.

oh please god no...

I hate to say this about any boxer at all but these two at best are gate keepers for national level boxers going for British/commonwealth or NABA/NABF titles or hell I'll say it let them try for that level themselves.

World level has been and gone and I hate saying that about anyone but its time to look at reality and say "hey, I tried and got there but I didn't make it. time to go home and win on the home front and leave on my terms"

So you are saying it would be an evenly matched fight then?

admittedly yes, evenly matched fights are great to watch lot of back and forth action.

that's why I don't think this fight would be worth it, Harrison had gotten too cautious and hasn't fought since the beginning of 2013 and Briggs now looks like he is competing well at the level he is at (currently NABA and interim WBC latino heavyweight champion).

I just think unless Audley could prove that he is training well, has a redefined style and has at least a couple of warm up bouts to say im back and ready to perform, it would end up being one sided or a let down to everyone who watched it.

but I admit, I would like this fight and would watch it, if they proved they were performing well, but Audley underperforms on the big stage and no doubt they would both blow this up into a big event and it would become one sided with Briggs dominating.

I would love to be proved wrong and would happily eat my words if it turned out to be a great fight. But you can see why I have my doubts.

Briggs' recent opponents aren't worthy to lace them up. Has anyone seen these fights?

I don't want to see this fight because I can see this leading to bigger things for the winner and in reality both are a million miles from bigger things.

I can see Harrison beating Briggs, but in reality Harrison would be a step down from Bahktov for Joshua (where this would be enivitably leading to).

If Harrison beats Briggs, lets see him and Matt Skelton finally get it on - as shot as Skelton has looked any win over Briggs would not provide any answers on how good Audley is.

It won't happen though, Shannon won't fight anyone with a remote chance of beating him till after Klitchsko anhilates him. Watch Shannon's asthma play up after 2 rounds there.

After two rounds Briggs struggled to throw more than five punches a round against McCline - that was in 2002! :o

Given that Harrison is afraid of throwing punches what we will have is essentially two guys posing in the ring.

Not too dissimilar from the Junior Witter - Demarcus Corley fight a few back.

Please no.

Or as Eddie Hearn calls it; "A Pay-Per-View caliber fight."

I've heard a lot of talk of a possible Audrey v kimbo slice fight being on the bill.

Audley will fight them both, in a WWF style handicap match.

two likeable chaps, however, two that should not be in a boxing ring any more, imo. For different reasons. In Briggs' case I think he's been around longer than enough now, the punishment that the Klitschko (Vitali?) put on him was very severe according to the reports of that fight that I read.
Briggs would also win, I'm 100% sure of that, so it really generates zero interest with me.
