Groves vs Kessler?

Post by big lennox »

Just looked at both their twitter accounts and they both tweeted on the 9 October that they are on their way for a Sauerland press conference? Is this a possible fight?

This would be interesting to watch, Kessler a veteran champion and Groves coming off a European championship win.

If it happens its a must win for Groves, two world title losses and a European title win, this would prove he is getting back to competing for a world title but if he losses it proves he isn't ready to compete at world title level and needs more experience.

Kessler a win would put him in the top ten with any of the top titles (WBC,IBF,WBA,WBO) but really since he is a proven contender he could fight for any of them with a solid win and a loss wouldn't damage his drawing power for a big fight.

Agreed. Can't see Groves risking his mandatory spot for it though. It's a fight where George definietly could outbox Mikkel (pre Rebrasse) - particularily at the stage in Kessler's career but Kessler knocking him spark out would'nt be overly shocking either.

I'd say that groves has a chance to box and move maybe pull a degale fight type performance. If Mikkels 80% what he was he beats George decisively. At his best hed have stopped George I believe.

At this stage I wouldn't be surprised if George stopped him either, unless he's as gunshy as he seemed last out. I fancy him to win via UD as Kessler should be well passed his prime, but he was good against Froch last time. It's a very interesting match up, I would love to see it, it's easily dissected many different ways. A proper test for Groves too.

At this moment, Kessler would be a better fight for Groves than he would be for Froch. Though I'd have no problem with the winning getting a shot.

No win fight for GG; if he beats MK then CF will say he did all the damage and that MK was a washed out shell of his former self; if GG loses then let the abuse start about how he is only European level.
