Ince was a 20 year old kid playing for the Hammers. The season was over and Ince was going on holiday with his mates for a couple of weeks. Ambrose Mendy (his manager) got him to wear a few kits - Man Utd, Liverpool, etc just in case any transfer bids came in while he was away (he was the hottest prospect in British football at the time).

Instead, Mendy leaked the photo's to the press and made the deal with Man U. Ince was made to look a right c.unt (at the time we still expected loyalty from players) and is still hated to this day by a section of West Ham fans.

Ince has since told his side of the story - which I believe. He shouldn't have had those photos taken but he was a kid who trusted his agent.

I know boxing promoters in general aren't the most trustworthy & believable bunch but Mendy is a parasite.

Ince is Nigel Benn's cousin, did Mendy advise Benn before Ince or the other way round? Did Benn introduce Ince to Mendy?

Not sure. They were all black eastenders involved in sport in the 80's so I assume it was a small step for them to all know each other. Mendy is a smart bloke so he will have made sure he was involved with them.

Nigel is a couple of years older than Paul but they both came into the public around the same time.
