m on the lookout for some melbourne fight footage
Hello all,
I am a huge boxing fan and just stumbled across your forum on Google.
i’m blind witch makes watching boxing very interesting.
I hope you don't think me presumptuous but I have a requests.
in the late 80’s and early to mid 1990s there was a fighter named Michael Marshall AKA magic mick marshall from melbourne australia.
I had the pleasure of knowing this man.
he died 11 years a go and i’m wondering if anyone has any footage of his fights they could upload to the web?
it is quite hard to find footage and i know that his family would love to see him in the ring.
I apologise if this request is too forward but I did not know where else to turn to.
thanks for any help
Michael

Are you referring to Michael Ronald Marshall from South Yarra?harry6116 wrote:Hello all,

hey,
yes, that is the man that I am referring to.
i found some info on this site about a fight he was in from 1989 against a man with the last name of Murdoch.
it's a hard request i know but still.
magic nearly died in the ring in one of his fights. He was kicked in the neck and he stopped breathing. It was his first major knockout and it took him months to get his confidence back.

Kicks to the neck are easier to recover from than bullets.harry6116 wrote:hey,

Marshall is one of the guys killed in the Melbourne Underbelly wars isn't he?
Re: m on the lookout for some melbourne fight footage
yes he was.
It was extremely traumatic for his friends and family.
He was on the undercard of the Jeff Fenech v Marcos Villasana april 8th 1989.
i have the fight but i want the undercard.

I'd be very surprised if you find anything on Marshall out there
He was a very successful hotdog seller

His commercial activities weren't limited to just hotdogs were they?bollox wrote:I'd be very surprised if you find anything on Marshall out there

look! i have put up with enough talk on marshall's life outside of boxing.
you did not know him so refrain from making comments about what he may or may not have dun.
i join this forum because I believed you could help me. I was obviously mistaken. i received nothing but smart comments about hotdogs and underworld activities. i new mick very well and new nothing about his alleged links to crime.
can anyone help me on here or are we just going to keep talking about this crap? i'm heartily sick of it.
For the mature members of the forum I have found more information. marshall was on the undercard on april 8th 1989 at the Jeff Fenech v Marcos Villasana fight in melbourne.
i'm asking for the laste time STOP TALKING ABOUT HIS DEATH OR THE REASONS SAROUNDING IT.

If Michael Marshall fought on the undercard of Jeff Fenech v Marcos Villasana it isn't recorded :harry6116 wrote:look! i have put up with enough talk on marshall's life outside of boxing.

The records here show Michael Marshall had two professional fights. One at Geelong and the other at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Neither on a Fenech undercard :

Is very unlikely there will be footage of those two fights.
Re: m on the lookout for some melbourne fight footage
hey,
i only found out about that undercard because it's on an old boxing program from the night of the fight.
It was on an Australian boxing memorabilia website.
i know mick was a world Champion but i don't know when that was.
i've talked to his family and I know from those conversations that he even fought in New York one time.
He also did Thai kickboxing I know it has a different name but I can't remember it. I definitely remember him fighting in Thailand and there was another fight that was cancelled because they found out his opponent had HIV.

The shortcuts above are related to boxing only. Not kickboxing or muay thai.harry6116 wrote:hey,

Glad to see Harry is a bit happier now.
Re: m on the lookout for some melbourne fight footage
I must apologise for the rant but my points were valid.
mick used to work with to melbourne trainers and boxers named PAUL FYFIELD and TONY TORCASIO who were very good fighters themselves.
