Can you expand on that?
Why does he need to of been a pro for basically 3 years before being ready to fight Price?

I've just thought of a guy that has been moved relatively quickly and whilst having had 11 more pro fights than Joshua, didn't start boxing till he was 23/24 himself and amongst two of those extra 11 opponents were Spilzka who's a decent fighter and Mike Perez. Obviously the guy im talking about is Bryant Jennings. He also didnt to my knowledge win anything as an amateur and is now mandatory after Wilder to Stieverne's WBC belt.

Sensible matchmaking to make sure he's ready and leaving enough time for Price to rebuild his credibility and hype the fight.

You do pick and choose huh. Some guys you'll knock for fighting crap opposition when it's needed, and some you'll justify it.

Joshua is being moved faster than Jennings was.

Jennings has been a pro for over 4.5 years.

Joshua has fought good opposition for a one year novice.

He doesn't deserve to be insulted.

Jennings also didnt start boxing till 6 years later than Joshua did and won nothing of note as an amateur. He's also been somewhat inactive and has only had 19 fights over that 4.5 year period whereas Joshua has had 9 already within a year.

That doesn't matter, as a pro he has not been moved faster than Joshua.

The people who want Joshua moved into world class level next year are probably mostly those who want him knocked out.

Of course it matters. Just because those 19 fights have been stretched out over a 4.5 year period (most likely because he doesnt have the option of being all bills nearly every month or two like Joshua does) that doesnt mean he hasnt been moved along relatively quickly for a guy that didnt even start boxing till he was 24 years old. He's only had 10 more pro fights than Joshua and two of those were against legitimate contenders at the time.

Jennings has not been moved quickly, he's not a good example.

He's had one pro fight more than Joshua and one of those was against Minto. He's also 2 years younger than Joshua and again had a late start to boxing.

Time is more important than amount of fights.

Look at what Parker had done after one year as a pro. Joshua has done more.

How is time more important? The number of pro fights is more important and the level of opposition rather than how they have been a professional. I guy could be a pro for 10 years but only had 1 fight in that period. He wouldnt be further along in his development than a guy that has been a pro 2 years but had 6 or 7 say.

Joshua is getting moved quicker. There is nothing to debate here.

The guy with one fight in 10 years would be moving very bloody slowly. The other guy is being moved a lot quicker.

I don't get your point.

The point is obvious. Just because a guy has been a pro longer in years, it doesnt automatically mean he's further along in his development. The level of competition and number of total fights is more important.

When we are taking about getting moved fast, then time matters more than the amount of fights.

Do you really disagree with that? Am I crazy?

Well if Joshua is being moved along quickly like you're saying (which I dont disagree with) and he's already fought the likes of Bahktov and Airich then why does it have to be another two years before he fights the likes of Price? Surely he'd be ready before then if he keeps moving along at this pace and fighting as often as he is.

There's no need to rush.

Price isn't an opponent that Joshua needs to fight. Price is a bit of a joke at the moment, he's only slightly more credible than Harrison.

I kind of agree, but like many exciting prospects, he may become the victim of his own success

being devastating against woeful opponents can often have us believe he is better than he is, a theory that's been proven many many times in boxing

everything looks good when i watch Anthony, but looking physically technically superior over physically and technically inferior opponents can be misleading.

Also talent alone gets you so far but you need experience and it's a difficult job getting experience when you're destroying guys in 2 rounds. i don't envy promoters trying to match these guys.

He might have the ability to make it to the top, but there is a very real chance that if you put him in with top guys, guys who he may one day be good enough to beat, that he'd struggle through lack of championship level opposition.

I just responded to someone who reckoned he'd steam roller Povetkin. Povetkin is a top class fighter, there is absolutely no evidence that AJ is at Povetkins level. And even if he does have the ability to be there one day, he might come unstuck if he were to fight someone of that caliber right now, someone who knows every trick in the book, someone who's gone 12 rounds more than once
