Iron Mike Towell
Re: Iron Mike Towell
Last time we spoke to Dean from Team James he told us that he was having trouble sleeping with it all :P I reckon we can get Davie a crack at Chris Keane, Keane has been stopped from China Clark and Davie hits like a mule! only one outcome;)

Re: Iron Mike Towell
I always thought Michael was more suited to welter as well david, but he he loves getting tore in about the tall lads,so light middle could be a good move for him, time will tell
Re: Iron Mike Towell
Drummond's had 2 fights, throwing him in with a fighter on the brink of title level would be career suicide at this stage. It was Neil Dawson who did Keane and to be honest, he's capable of doing that to anyone, one mistake and it can be all over against Dawson, not really a reflection on Keane's chin.JamieM wrote:Last time we spoke to Dean from Team James he told us that he was having trouble sleeping with it all :P I reckon we can get Davie a crack at Chris Keane, Keane has been stopped from China Clark and Davie hits like a mule! only one outcome;)

Time isnt on davies side with all the set backs cancellations etc,a fight against keane etc is just what he needs,he would get himself right up for it and would go all out to make his own statement, hes totally frustrated justed now and a tough bout is exactly what he needs to get his career back on track, hopefully gilmour gets him back in the ring soon

Imo Chris Keane would be a bit too big of a step up for Davie at the minute!! But Davie is a tough, strong guy and can box a bit too so I'm sure he would fancy it!!
Is Davie signed to Tommy now? Last I heard he was with Tony Lindie.

Hes with gilmour now
Re: Iron Mike Towell
I think Davie needs to take risks. The good thing about him is he can bang. Showed that against Matovu not many get him out of there.. Keane is a very good British level fighter. Although a hard ask I would actually favour Davie in this bout would be a cracker.David McAllister wrote:semtexreilly wrote:Time isnt on davies side with all the set backs cancellations etc,a fight against keane etc is just what he needs,he would get himself right up for it and would go all out to make his own statement, hes totally frustrated justed now and a tough bout is exactly what he needs to get his career back on track, hopefully gilmour gets him back in the ring soon

You obviously have seen more of him lately and I'll take your word for it, I haven't seen him box since his amateur days, who's he training with now?daviddee wrote:I think Davie needs to take risks. Good to hear he is back at Lochee boys club, Jamie Coyle is working for Mike Towell but that doesn't mean he will work for everyone. Davie just needs to be with someone he trusts can do their best for him and hopefully Tommy gets him some fights asap!!
Re: Iron Mike Towell
Which is why it's all the more important to get the matchmaking right, he isn't a cruiserweight anyway and a pasting from Keane would do his career no good at all. Why would Keane take the fight anyway? Nothing in it for him.semtexreilly wrote:Time isnt on davies side with all the set backs cancellations etc,a fight against keane etc is just what he needs,he would get himself right up for it and would go all out to make his own statement, hes totally frustrated justed now and a tough bout is exactly what he needs to get his career back on track, hopefully gilmour gets him back in the ring soon

Davey NEEDS a fight ASAP,he,s not had any luck lately and is willing to fight anyone I reckon at LHW or CW,as long as he get,s fights he,ll fight Keane as I'm pretty sure he has power to put Keane away regardless of experience,a couple of tune ups would be ideal but he, a man in a hurry

Re: Iron Mike Towell
ive no got a clue whether keane would want to take the fight or not as i dont know him, like you say mabye theres nothing in it for him, davie could do cruiser no probs though,i believe hes better,i i know he prefers being in the ring with bigger guys,i just hope things start moving for him,and he gets a chance to show what he can do
Re: Iron Mike Towell
Cause dean and Chris pride themselfs on not avoiding anyone, I'm sure there gonna need fights on the card of ronnie and Troy, dean trains Chris, he's moving onto British level fights and a nice little test against smaller man , makes sense, let's just see if they want it;) come on Davie Drummond, ;)
Re: Iron Mike Towell
Seen on mikes facebook page he's been offered a fight in Canada and is taking it in 2 weeks time, dundee boys really do have the minerals
Re: Iron Mike Towell
I notice that Towell is unofficially rated at 16 in the British light-middle rankings. An excellent fight for him at this stage would be an 8 rounder against Bradley Pryce. An experienced pro coming off a victory and a southpaw. A win would probably get him noticed more in lift him into the top 10. He's the most exciting Scottish pro I've seen in the flesh in at least 10 years.
To a certain age group, and I'm not sure many that old will be on this forum, he reminds me of a very famous Scottish internationalist from the 60's, Andy Wyper . When Wyper was coming to the ring you could actually feel the sense of anticipation, and I feel the same with Towell. This lad must fight often, around Scotland, and build up a good solid following outwith his native Dundee. He's a crowd pleaser.
To his people I would say, get him out there, get him moving. 6 months between fights is a nonsense.

Re: Iron Mike Towell
He's a welterweight mate, he's just took fights at light Middle, think there chasing a scottish title fight with craig kelly, also he's defintly fighting in Canada so he's had like 5 fights or something this year? He's only just turned pro so he's actice enough
Re: Iron Mike Towell
Sorry to disagree, he's 23 years old and has had 2 fights in a year, so he's definitely not active enough.

Does Dave still get managed by Tony Lindie coz I'd gladly have him fight my super middle weight if he wants a contest, I'm sure Tonys got a show in Dec so plenty time for him to get ready

Tommy gilmour is davies manager
Re: Iron Mike Towell
Yes but in 12 months if u say it that way he'll have had 4 fights after Canada and he'll also fight again before year is out, that's pretty decent to be fair as boxing in Scotland is poor as not a lot of shows

I hope your not trying to match David Brophy with Davie Drummond mate!! Haha This is no disrespect to Davie Drummond but why would you be wanting to fight him when it will gain your fighter absolutely nothing? Davie Drummond has had 2 fights and hasn't fought in ages, shouldn't you be trying to match David Brophy with someone that will put him into contention for a title fight of some sort??
I like Davie Drummond but he should be finding his feet in the pro game just like anyone else, he wasn't some unreal amateur he was a win some lose some boxer and he needs to be more active but against opposition that will give him rounds to learn and find his feet. He hasn't taken that much punishment so he is a fresh 32, I'd like to see him not worry about teh big fights but just keeping himself busy and learning.

What's the reasons that Tommy hasn't had him boxing mate? He usually at least keeps his fighters relatively busy especially if they want to fight because it's the only way he makes money from Davie!!

Your bang on David, Brophy with luck will fight for at least the British or Commonwealth next year and win it.

As far as I know I think davie struggled to get the amount of tickets sold that was asked of him, hopefully gilmour gets him a bout before end of the year
