Loeffler says Golovkin will return in February in Europe

Post by Freedom2013 »

K2's Tom Loeffler said Gennady Golovkin will probably return in February 2015 in Monte Carlo. Loeffler says the plan is for 4 fights in 2015.

I wonder who the potential opponents are? I wouldn't be surprised if he fought Martin Murray there (if Murray wins his upcoming fight).

GGG all smiles at presser. Loeffler says back in Feb in Monte Carlo unless Chavez steps up.

Murray would be a good opponent.

If he's fighting four times at MW in 2015 and assuming he keeps winning I'd like to see GGG face Murray, the Korobov-Lee winner, the Cotto-Canelo winner, and another top 15 opponent, though it would be slim pickings at 160. Perhaps Lemieux for a short but sweet type of bout.

He should fight Abraham in Germany. Arthur has only ever been stopped once by Stegilitz due to an unlucky cut on the eye - if i remember correctly he's only ever hit the canvas once against Dirrell but wasn't really hurt, just got caught while moving back. Knocking Abraham out would be massive and place him as the guy to beat at SMW.

Edit: Just caught the highlights of that abraham vs Dirrell fight, indeed Abraham was dropped in round 4 while moving back. And you have to laugh at the ShowTime team covering that fight and their "cocnern" for the badly concussed Dirrell. He took a dive, noway was he hurt by that punch, he looked at the ref like "C'mon man" before he decided to encounter a dose of epilepsy.

Monaco is not a big money fight, so most of potential opponents will not agree to get beating there. Murray was offered to fight last February but refused preferring to fight on the undercard. In any case, Murray would not last more than 3 rounds.

Unless he plans on buying his food carefully, GGG shouldn't move to USA.
Food and drinks are full of crap there.
That's why the EU refuses to import their stuff.

unless his diet consists of processed food, he'll be fine. he has enough money to shop at places that sell non-GMO food

Martin Murray would be a good test, but does anyone give him a real chance of beating Golovkin? Its time Golovkin gets it on with the key names at middleweight: Cotto, Quillan, Chavez, even Martinez or dare i say it Taylor at a push, or fights a big name from junoir middleweight like Alvarez or moves up to supermiddle. Fights against the likes of Murray, Korobov, Lee etc dont interest me anymore, its obvious Golovkin is on another level. He handily beat both Korobov and Lee in the amatuers and would almost certainly do the same now. He had a long, stellar amatuer career, he has been a pro for 7 or 8 years now, he's 31 & 0 as a pro with a staggering 28 ko's. He's 32 years old, nearing 33, i've little interest in seeing him beat the likes of Murray or Lee etc.

Quillin is no better than Murray, Chavez is not a middleweight, Martinez and Taylor will want millions to get into the ring with GGG which is not gonna happen. Cotto will probably want 10 mil at least which is not gonna happen either. More importantly, none of the guys mentioned will add much to GGG's resume at this point.

Ward, Froch and possibly Kessler may me the only challenging fights for GGG now.

Speaking about Korobov, when GGG beat him in amateurs, Gennady was already a world champion while Matvey basically had his first international competition. I doubt that Gennady would win so handily 3-4 years later. Even though it is not a good money fight, Korobov and Lemieux are the only potential challenges at MW posing way more danger than Quillin or Murray.
