Anthony Joshua knocked out by David Price in sparring?
Anthony Joshua knocked out by David Price in sparring?
I've mentioned this rumour before but it seems to be getting quite widely circulated now and according to the guy in this video, he spoke to two guys from the respective camps of both guys who were there on the day it happened and apparantly backed the rumour up. Would be interesting if true and could explain why Price seems so keen on the fight and actually confidence when it comes to talking about fighting Joshua in particular

Price can definitely bang. When was this meant to happen? Joshua seems like perfect heavy, unless he can't take a punchlefty wrote:I've mentioned this rumour before but it seems to be getting quite widely circulated now and according to the guy in this video, he spoke to two guys from the respective camps of both guys who were there on the day it happened and apparantly backed the rumour up. It's a bit cloudy that part. Some are saying it was before the olympics so he was still an amateur obviously (although he supposedly beat Fury up as an amateur though) and there's some saying it was happened within the last 6 months. I honestly dont know in truth and I dont know if the rumours are true anyway.reggaereggae wrote:Price can definitely bang. When was this meant to happen? Fair enough - so it's totally unsubstantiated. I guess unless you know someone trustworthy who was present, it's not worth taking seriously. There were also rumours (and believable) that Price knocked out David Haye in sparring..... Who knowslefty wrote:It's a bit cloudy that part. I have spoken to a trustworthy individual who was present and he saw John Ruiz dominate Lennox in sparring. But that's just it, sparring is not a fight and if you're not fit, lesser fighters can get on top.

It is unsubstantiated but the guy in the video says he was contacted over facebook (he has a facebook group) by two people who are or were involved in both camps and were there on the day it happened and saw it and backed it up. I do trust the guy in the video on this aswell because he's not one from having watched his videos for awhile to make stuff like that up.reggaereggae wrote:lefty wrote:Fair enough - so it's totally unsubstantiated. How the hell did you last more than 30 seconds into that video, mate? It was a combination of everything I hate: computer games and amateur psychology.lefty wrote:I've mentioned this rumour before but it seems to be getting quite widely circulated now and according to the guy in this video, he spoke to two guys from the respective camps of both guys who were there on the day it happened and apparantly backed the rumour up. At least 2 people said they saw the Abominable Snowman last weekend; it was on the Internet so must be true.

Re: Anthony Joshua knocked out by David Price in sparring?
David Price knocking Joshua out in sparring or in the ring isn't something that really would be that surprising given Price's big punch power when he really sits down on his shots.
A lot of people are clinging to the hope that Joshua's chin is similar to that of Price's and that will hold him back. I know the amateur and pro games are different but having seen Joshua late in his amateur career at the Worlds and the Olympics he wasn't getting put down or given standing 8s with the regularity that Price seemed to. At the Worlds Joshua got beaten by Majidov in the final and got given a standing 8 but took some really big shots without going down in that fight, and despite being pretty outmatched he kept throwing leather throughout. I'm not going to take from that that he has a chin like McCall because he doesn't, but I think he is quite a bit more sturdy than David Price. Time will tell tho.

What's painful about it? I'm very skeptical of sparring rumors like this, but I didn't think the guy seemed devoid of intelligence based on that video.MightyWarrior wrote:Yep, the narrator is definitely not the sharpest tool in the box. Joshua has a decent chin at least.
It might not be granite, but it's not china.
Stamina is the main question mark.

Well the way he plods through various stunning insights like "some peoples confidence is low... depending on their experience .....and some peoples confidence is high ....depending on their experience" and God knows what else because I had to turn it off after 30 secondscrusader wrote:

Re: Anthony Joshua knocked out by David Price in sparring?
You really find that painful listening? He didn't spend that much time on it and it's obviously relevant to the issue he's discussing.

Why do they call him Abominable? He never hurt no-one. He's a good boy.taffytoon wrote:At least 2 people said they saw the Abominable Snowman last weekend; it was on the Internet so must be true.

Re: Anthony Joshua knocked out by David Price in sparring?
That geezer should just talk about computer games. I also turnt it off after 25 seconds!
I heard the rumour moons ago about price stopping josh in his tracks after he was laying it on thick as he does or did. He's since gained size & expieriance. Josh also gave fury a going over when an amateur when fury got back into training after time out & he applauded josh for it!
Listen in Mexican gyms all the greats or most have gone over in the gym & have got up & showed mettle & it ain't frowned upon but more respected as in sparring it's sparring where you try things take silly chances & let it go.
As for horse I think Josh's chin the jury is still out & the fact his head is so high means he will absorb the full force & his hands don't protect much & are held at his chest

Re: Anthony Joshua knocked out by David Price in sparring?
See i think its the other way round, he's got plenty of stamina but his chin is a mystery, Bahktov caught him fairly flush and he looked completely unphased but bahktov isnt a decent puncher. If he has a granite chin then the kids going to be a great, i fancy sprott to land a few flush shots and give us a bit more of an insight i then expect sprott to be stopped in 3.Horse wrote:Joshua has a decent chin at least.

Tyson Fury is on record one of Bunce's shows that Big Josh knocked the crap out of him in sparring, as for David Price doing it to Big Josh I wouldn't rule it out. But then again there is all sorts of stories about sparring etc.
Re: Anthony Joshua knocked out by David Price in sparring?
I wouldnt read too much into it either way, Its pretty widely agreed despite any flaws people see in Price that he has the power to bingo anybody if he lands

I watch said you tubers videos regularly. I believe he's boxed for England as an amateur.
He's from a rough part of London and isn't the most eloquent, well spoken of people but often does give useful insights into potential fights and has an excellent track record of predicting fights. If you don't like his dialect fair enough but don't just dismiss him because he wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

I also heard Price Ko'd Haye in sparring. Whatever. All possible but sparring is sparring, David took some pretty good clumps against Wlad
