Here's an idea, use your eyeballs. What bearing does Floyd beating DeLaHoya 8 years ago have on Golovkins skill set? He's the best fighter on the planet peroid. When Floyd wiped the floor with Coralles he was at his absolutel prime yet only rated about 6 in pfp rankings cause shitebags need to wait for the obvious skillset to overcome an established name first. It's like the Klitchko bashing, they haven't had the competition but any idiot can see either Brother would be a handful for any heavyweight in history.
Yes use your eyeballs. Only the best can beat Curtis Stevens and Marco Rubio. Or something.

Of course he isn't. Maidana's equivalent at MW is Lemieux beaten by Rubio.

I would not of said it as crudely. But i agree with the sentiment 100%..GGG may be the next big thing.
But until he beats some "A" game opponents he should not be rated as #1.
There are no A opponents left at MW. Martinez is shot, everybody else is nowhere near GGG, so wouldn't probably qualify for an "A" game opponents in your book.
We as fans are always wanting more from the supposed best.It is not asking too much for GGG to fight
some "A" opponents at 168.Before we appoint him the new #1 p4p

Sounds fair to me. Name a couple "A" SMW opponents beside Ward and Froch who aren't available now for different reasons.

If only there were a Maidana to scrape past or a Bika to clinch with at 160. By the time he wins a superfight he'll probably be on the slide with a new kid on the up & you'll forever be behind the times because you can't recognise boxing genius unless its on display against another great. But 2 prime greats is a rarity, especially now.

You cant seriously be saying the middleweight equivalent of Maidana in terms of talent and fighting ability is Lemieux? Cmon man lol. Golovkin is definietly and there is no one really at middleweight that is really going to challenge him but comparing Maidana to Lemieux is madness. The only real similarity they have is punching power. In all the other areas Maidana is superior.

Maidana is a limited brawler. The only advantage he has over Lemieux is experience.

There's nothing great about Maidana. He is in danger of being over-rated on the back of his first fight (in particular) with Mayweather.

while i personly have rigondeaux at #1 spot, I realy do like the fact people are now more appreciating GGG and yes, I also do like them going by skill and power and not by stupid records!!!

Anyone who has any fighter above Mayweather in this sport in terms of P4P is delusional and really isn't a true boxing fan. Who the hell besides Rubio has Triple G beaten? Mentioning Rigondeaux in that equation isn't even a fair comparison because he beat the overrated Donaire who was blasted out recently showing he wasn't all that to begin with.

The problem with these casual fans and some who call themselves boxing fans is they allow their dislike to make them judge Mayweather, I don't like the man's persona outside of the ring but inside it there is no fighter better in terms of P4P. Sure there are fighters who provide more excitement due to their lack of skills because they create the drama for them to be hit and how they react to it but Floyd is so good that he totally shuts down 99% of fighter's offense against him thus taking the drama out of the fight.

My P4P rankings depend most heavily on considerations of how well a fighter performed and how good their opponents were. GGG is very good and tends to look the part, but when comparing him to the other elite of the sport, his opposition hasn't been sufficient for him to be close to the #1 spot in my rankings.

I think lower top 10 is appropriate though.

I see that you think Maidana and Bika are the best opponents Mayweather and Ward have defeated. You must be a very informed boxing pundit.

You're a fan of Lemiuex right mate? Do you think being objective in your analysis (which you're good at doing) do you think Lemieux deserves to ranked on the same level as Maidana?

Lemiuex has had 34 professional fights..... Maidana has had 38 pro fights. Maidana beat Broner who whilst was overrated no doubt for awhile is still better than any win Lemieux has had and he also gave Khan one of his toughest fights. Lemiuex on the other hand got knocked out by Rubio and lost on points to a shot to pieces Alcine who got knocked out by Brian fornicating Rose! The same Brian Rose who is not a puncher and got absolutely battered from pillor to post by Andrade. He also got knocked out by Macklin in a round!

Not even close. One day maybe, but for now Maidana is clearly a few levels above imo.

Off topic, Golovkin vs Lemiuex would be a fun ass fight whilst it lasted. Be interesting to see how Golovkin handed Lemiuex's power. However if you compared both performances against Rubio and how Rubio dealt with either mans punching power you'd probably have to say that GGG is the more devastating puncher.

Opponents defeated a long time ago should have no influence on CURRENT p4p positions. Only a few recent fights should be taken into consideration. Floyd is clearly sliding, the only question is if that sliding was significant enough to lose #1 position.

That's actually incorrect, and a ridiculous criteria you made-up to suit your overrating of Golovkin. No one who uses that proposed method to rank fighters has any business ranking fighters, and their opinions should be given no value. You would have been horrifically bad at accurately rating Sugar Ray Robinson. In late 1949, you'd be like "SRR's last few wins were against Benny Evans, Charley Dodson, Don Lee, and Vern Lester; and since a fighter should only be evaluated based on his four most recent fights, I decided to move SRR down 100 spots in my p4p rankings." Then in mid 1950, you'd be like "SRR just beat Robert Villemain, Charley Fusari, and Jose Basora, so I decided to move SRR back up 70 spots in my p4p rankings." After Wlad beat Mormeck, Thompson, Wach, and Pianeta; you would have had to move him a few dozen ranks down your p4p rankings. Then when Wlad beat Povetkin, you would've had to move him dozens of ranks back up. Your rankings would be a roller coaster, because you would be wildly inaccurate all of the time.

Also, I should point out that in Ward's last 3 fights, just his last three, he notched 2 wins that were better than any win Golovkin has recorded in his entire career. In Nicholas's Walters last 2 fights, just the last 2, he accomplished more than Golovkin did in his entire career. In Manny Pacquiao's last fight, just the last 1, he notched a bigger accomplishment than Golovkin did in his entire career.

Beside who a fighter beats, it is important how he does it. When fighting somebody like Maidana or Rubio, one needs to look impressively.

p4p lists made solely on resumes also look ridiculous. After beating a few top opponents, one could then fight mediocre opposition and stay on top of such lists.

P.S. Ward's last good win was in 2011. Are you seriously considering beating Dawson exhausted by weight drain a big achievement ? Dawson who just lost to some C level fighter ? How is Walters beating two shot opponents better than what Golovkin did ?

Or, by whatever bizarre criteria is used by Golovkin's nuthuggers, a fighter could beat a few gatekeepers like Lucian Bute did, and somehow get rated as the #1 p4p; ahead of fighters who have beaten dozens of world class opponents, ahead of fighters who have a dozen wins against future hall of famers, ahead of fighters who have multiple wins against opponents that were just as good as Golovkin is. Bute's and Abraham's careers were exactly the same as Golovkin's is, and they even had their own fanatical nuthuggers, and Froch smoked both of them, and Ward dominated Froch and Abraham. If you were around here in 2012, you would've been rating Dmitry Pirog at #1 p4p. I've seen this flavor of the month shit many times. Fighters like Golovkin, Pirog, Bute, Abraham, and Broner who get overhyped for beating gatekeepers don't crossover into being legitimate elite fighters in the long run, they end-up getting exposed by the first world class fighter that they run into. There was even a time when some American-biased fans ranked Chad Dawson at #1 p4p, they were like the American version of you, but in the end, Ward turned Dawson into roadkill.

For the record, I don't give GGG #1 spot in a traditional p4p list. My opinion is that traditional p4p lists are worthless. Golovkin will soon prove that he is no Abraham or Bute to those who are blind to not see it now.

GGG 64%
Mayweather 36%

It's easy to be the best fighter when you're facing a plethora of average Joe's, so yes I would say that GGG is the "best" fighter facing the minimal competition he has faced thus far.

He hasn't even been tested by any of these journeymen he has faced, lol at today's so called boxing fans.
