This Saturdays Liverpool show

Post by handsofstone »

Does anyone know the actual line up? Every place i check has contrasting fights

I assume Paul Butlers fight with Ismael Garnica is the bill-topper even though its a 10 rounder

Then i know Derry Mathews fights Adam Dingsdale in an International fight and Thomas Stalker fights Jack Catterall

Liam Smith is fighting TBA on the Allegedly site but has an opponent Zoltan Sera on boxrecs schedule

Kevin Satchell's supposedly challenging European Flyweight champ Valery Yanchy but again no word on b/nation site

Ovill McKenzie meant to be defending his British and Commonwealth Cruiserweight belts against Matty Askin yet that fights just dissapeared from boxrec schedule but is still on according to ESPN schedule

Is it too much to ask for Wazza and his channel to give us an update considering the show takes place in days................Sky and Matchroom arent much better when it comes to updating running orders

Not as enthusiastic about this bill as I was a month or two ago especially with no McKenzie-Askin - although the Satchell and Stalker fights look competitive enough.

Sera looked like a complete novice against Selkirk, I can't see any point in Smith fighting a opponent like him.

Why are Flanagan and Matthews being kept apart?

He's 2/1 with bookies so that suggests yes

Satchell should have too much for Yanchy, he is awkward and will have success but I am not sure he is busy enough to take the decision against the home fighter, good fight for Satchell and
hopefully prove another step up the ladder.

Dingsdale performed well against Ormond and should give a good account of himself, you could not rule him out really as Derry has had some hard fights during his career and continues to give it his all, looks set to be a decent contest.

Stalker/Catterall looks sure to be decent little scrap, the Catterall camp seem very confident, believe these two may have sparred together, cant really pick a winner tbh.

Smith and Butler have easy looking nights and both just marking time waiting for bigger fights.

I think Catterall beats Stalker with relative ease.

Why's Liam Smith fighting someone who Selkirk smashed in 3 rounds !

He needs stepping up not going back to fighting people he could beat up 3 years ago pointless

The fight was put on (from what I can tell) at about 2 weeks notice, I'd assume they offered the fight to a lot of better opponents who turned it down. Butler's fight is disappointing but then if the World title fight is going to be rescheduled then what do you do? You don't throw him in against a top 10 opponent and risk chucking the World title fight down the drain.

I think the Stalker v Catarell fight is a good even fight, I favour Catarell personally. On the contrary I don't think the Mathews v Dingsdale fight is a good one. I think Derry wins that one, he might have a brief scare here and there but will come through in the end.

The problem is the guy looked dangerously novice-like against Selkirk, he had nothing but bravery to offer. I hope he's improved dramatically since then.

It will be interesting to see how many punters are there on the night. I hope there's a good turn out. Smith's opponent is dreadful though.

Yeah was well impressed with him against Heffron I'll give him a chance against Liam Smith who is due another step up. I think he will vacate the Lonsdale

Whats the story with Beefy's Commonwealth strap?

Liam still thinks he's Commonwealth champion, but when he fought Ochieng, he had the option of that fight or defending the Commonwealth against Obodai Sai, he chose Ochieng and I believe he was stripped, the CBC haven't listed him as champion for a while now.
