Yes, I'd say around 6th through 10th is where he belongs.

Name 1 fighter currently operating at a superior level, pfp, than Golovkin.

All the currents P4P are around 30 or older, and are judged on their younger days, which has no basis in reality.
A good example would be Pac, who's clearly past it, and Froch.

GGG is obviously above these 2.

Ward would school GGG........don't get me wrong GGG is a beast, he aint beating Ward. U cannot put him in front of Mayweather based on his wins. KO's Rubio in 2 is a solid win but I watched Rubio get smoked in a rd by a b level guy so its not the first time Rubio has been ran over.

Some other dude mentioned Froch.....gimme a break in his prime he may have been 12 or so. I love the guys attitude and will to win but is a bit overrated.

Yeah he should be there one day maybe . I mean possibly when he beats a few good fighters or maybe picks up a couple of titles . The Rubios and Geales of the world aren't going to put you in the top 10

I think it's acceptable to have him either in or out. Personally I'd either have him in the lower top 10 or just outside.

Golovkin would knock Ward the f*ck out. Boone had Ward chicken dancing and flapping around on the canvas from a sneaky short hook. Golovkin on boxing terms is more accurate and more skilled than Ward in getting his shots home (the finishing shot vs Rubio was something I haven't seen before, it was unique to generate that power on a front foot overhand left). No way Ward sppils and clinches enough to keep such a skilled operator in GGG off him. GGG shatters that glass.

Being a GGG fan, I hope you're right, but ultimately this is little more than opinion and you'll likely find that most experts disagree with you. If it weren't for the long layoff, I would favour Ward due to his higher level of proven ability. Right now I'd say a GGG-Ward fight is 45:55 to Ward and is the best fight that could possibly be made in boxing. GGG hasn't shared the ring with someone possessing close to Ward's ability, not to mention that Ward is the bigger guy. Ultimately it a match-up of one outstanding defensive fighter who is proven at the top level against one outstanding offensive fighter who (as a pro) is not.

Resume wise Gonzalez, Pac, JMM, Mayweather, Froch, Rigo, Cotto, Bradley, Klitschko, Hopkins, Garcia Ward's not active so he doesn't count. Now this is my opinion just like any ratings it can be picked through because its an opinion. GGG hasn't fought or beat the level of opposition of any of those guys.

What if rankings and perceived ability are given equal weight? I really couldn't complain with someone having GGG over say, Danny Garcia, especially since I thought the latter lost to Mauricio Herrera.

a lost doesn't mean there resume still is better. Most of those people I named has loses but their wins have come vs better comp than GGG. If were talking talent then no question he's P4P talent but his resume doesn't rate.

This stuff is all subjective in truth. I mean who is Golovkins best win would you say? Geale? Macklin? I really dont know and then you have Garcia's best win which has got to be Khan or Matthysse and then you have to try and work out who is the better fighter if they same weight. It is all pretty much conjecture in truth.

I think the middleweight division is actually quite weak currently. You've got a lot of guys who are a very similar level like Macklin, Geale, Sturm, Murray, Barker *when he was still fighting* possibly Quillin aswell and they're like b/c class fighters and then probably Martinez *before his body fell apart and age caught up with him* and Golovkin. There's not a great deal of competition in the weight class. I'm not even including Cotto because I just dont think he's big enough and it wouldnt surprise me if he lost to a Macklin type guy at middleweight because of the difference in size.

I'd give Paul Williams a better shot at beating Klitschko tomorrow than I would give Golovkin at beating Ward

I agree that all guys you listed including Quillin and Rubio and excluding prime Martinez are about of the same level and any one of them could beat another one on a good day. The question is if it makes the division weak or Golovkin is just so much better which makes it look weak.

I still want to see Golovkin vs Korobov, but most of the fans will not appreciate that win either.

Golovkin clearly is very good but if you were to put the likes of Geale, Macklin, Murray and co (excluding prime Martinez) against Froch for instance if they were of equal size obviously who do you think would win? For me, I just think that super middle is a strong division on the whole. I think taking even Ward out of the equation, the likes of Froch, Groves, Degale, Andre dirrell and maybe a couple of others are better fighters than Geale, Macklin, and those kind of guys. I know some of them havent proved it in terms of winning world titles but that's also because of in some cases who they were matched against. I'd far prefer to see Golovkin at super middleweight because of the competition and the fact that he'd add a lot to the weight class aswell. On the same token whilst I think he would have success at super middle I do fear whether we'd see the best of him because he's not exactly a big middleweight and actually would probably be better suited at light middle than super middle.
