I hope so, he was thrown to the dogs against Haye, Price & Wilder, because they know he's a chinless shitbag that would get KO'd easily.
It would be like Khan having no drawing power but in need of a paycheck so promoters building murderous punchers like Provodnikov or Matthysse giving Khan a paycheque knowing it's another Prescott job.
Harrison however can actually box a bit and has a massive left that could knock out any Heavyweight if he can find a home for it like he did Sprott 2 for instance.
I'd love to see Harrison used as a gatekeeper in the correct matchmaking rather than thrown to the dogs as a certain KO victim. He'd have been a very good test for Tyson Fury for instance well ahead of Rogan or Johnson. Fury I think has a suspect chin and a questionable defence,so although he'd be the favourite I can't imagine him doing a 1-punch KO job on Harrison and would find himself in with a live and dangerous opponent.

Does anyone really care, you can't be a boxer if you're scared of getting punched.

You seem to be suggesting that Audley Harrison is a better boxer than Amir Khan?Ricky_ wrote:I hope so, he was thrown to the dogs against Haye, Price & Wilder, because they know he's a chinless shitbag that would get KO'd easily.

No, i simply compared them in terms of how they can be exposed, or in the case of Khan, protected, by promoters.ILikeBeer wrote:You seem to be suggesting that Audley Harrison is a better boxer than Amir Khan?Ricky_ wrote:I hope so, he was thrown to the dogs against Haye, Price & Wilder, because they know he's a chinless shitbag that would get KO'd easily.

But hey... who has the gold? ;)
Re: Will Audley Harrison ever fight again?
The problem for Audley is that once he was too good for domestic level fights as demonstrated by the ease with which he cruised through Prizefighter, but not good enough to mix it with the levels above that. Now though the domestic Heavy scene has several promising fighters & the best he could hope for is being used to build those fighters up.
Obviously Audley vs. Joshua would make sense with the Gold medal aspect, but with Aud's chin & Joshua showing a bit of spite in last fight I couldn't see it ending well for him.
For someone who clearly doesn't like getting hit he's had an OK carer & made some good money, I hope he's smart enough to call it a day personally & stay out of the ring before he gets hurt.

Re: Will Audley Harrison ever fight again?
I think he might do, just for the fact that, for him, he's been at the top level, won a gold medal and fought for a world title (and I use that VERY loosely, I paid to see that title fight and still feel I was robbed lol) but its because he fought and lost so quickly in his last fight (against wilder) that I think a come back will be based more on pride rather than a title chase.
looking at his reputation, weather people love his never say die attitude or hate him for the constant disappointments, they will still watch him fight, either to hope he loses and calls it quits or that he finally comes good on his promises. So when you look at that a promoter will always be able to use him.
really it depends on what he has been doing with his time when he hasn't been fighting, is he training ? has he improved his style ? has he improved his punch resistance ? who will he fight ? and finally a question that we'd need him to answer for us as well as answer for himself, does he really want to come back ?

At the risk of being too controversial Harrison was a decent boxer. He has the the physique and, in his prime, had a decent skill set. Yes I know what happened whenever he took a decent punch but that aside he was ok.
If he is still in shape and retains his ability he would make a good opponent for domestic level fights. Not an AJ type fighter, although I have voiced a suspicion that could happen, but someone a bit more ordinary. He wouldn't make big money but he could probably get 2 or 3 fairly competitive fights

Re: Will Audley Harrison ever fight again?
3-1 last year, he fought wilder and lost by KO. I agree winning 3 fights in one night is impressive, but they are only 3 round fights but when you look at his results, it proves he can finish his opponents (2 TKO's in prizefighter), I think he hesitates in the longer fights, so maybe he is afraid of gassing out and engaging to early.mickey1975 wrote:Last year. 3-0(2) in one night winning Prizefighter.
I say this because when he's fought wilder, price and haye as soon as they got aggressive early he didn't have an answer for them, so maybe if he decides to become more aggressive early on he'd have a better chance.
Re: Will Audley Harrison ever fight again?
Audley's always been super sharp from a commercial perspective and I think that he's been playing a very cute game for more than a few years now....patiently waiting out for a good deal to come up and understanding the value of his name. Despite his optimistic statements about aiming for the top and having finally fixed issues with his lifestyle, fighting style etc....simply ensuring he gets paid top dollar has been the raison d'etre for a while.
He'll no doubt be keeping an eye on Joshua and Fury and if the money is right.... he'll take just one more fight. And he'll probably sell the thing well for the promoter and put some bums on seats; because he has always been good at that as well.

Re: Will Audley Harrison ever fight again?
When he knows he's a level above a fighter he starts turning on the style, he looked fantastic in the last prize fighter and i belive he threw a 14 punch combo to polish off ali adams. Problem is he goes up against monster punchers and gets drilled, i always thought if he had been protected by a promoter he would have had got an easy route to an easier world title fight ie chagaev or valuev.baron_otto wrote:At the risk of being too controversial Harrison was a decent boxer. I'd really like to see him get some fights with guys who would suit his style a bit better - ustinov, solis would be a great fight, chagaev, maybe fury (although i think fury would have beaten price it was the power aspect that wiped audley out), chisora, tony thompson, i think he could KO Kevin Johnson, eddie chambers, cunningham. Theres loads of fights out there for him (obviously the higher profile fighters wont touch him at the mo but it only takes a convincing win or 2), i really just dont want to see him in the ring with a banger or someone like Arreola who will jump all over him and shell shock him.
Re: Will Audley Harrison ever fight again?
I would say that's true. Audley had some skills, but was entirely lacking in heart.Finn wrote:

I remember being impressed when Audley beat Richel Hersisa. That was a pretty good boxing performance. But it was a good performance against somebody who wasn't particularly that great.
Audley's problem was that he was too scared to get hit. When he realised an opponent was going to fight back, his eyes bulged with fear and he performed so over cautiously you expected him to run out of the ring at any minute.
Then again, with his chin, you can perhaps see why.

Did fighting one armed for nearly a full fight against Sprott not require heart? He is gunshy, no doubt, but his heart is ok, he wouldn't be coming back if not. He probably got more in CBB than most heavies get in a year.ILikeBeer wrote:I would say that's true. Audley had some skills, but was entirely lacking in heart.Finn wrote:

Harrison's career is over (if it ever really began).
He's now taken to the earning money by other means route, like appearing on Big Brother, so that tells me that he might have finally realised that it's time to get on with this life, just like the far more celebrated Evander Holyfield did recently.

Fury would be a good fight for him to take. As someone mentioned above, Fury isn't a massive punch and for that reason, Harrison wouldn't be as reluctant to fight as he can be against some other heavies.Bodyshot3 wrote:Audley's always been super sharp from a commercial perspective and I think that he's been playing a very cute game for more than a few years now....patiently waiting out for a good deal to come up and understanding the value of his name. Massive downsides for Fury though as Harrison would have a similar reach and could take him the distance or maybe, just maybe, land the dig that has caught Fury before but in a heavier fashion.
Hell, i'm back on the A-Train. A-Force to spark Fury

Fury would bully Harrison very easily

Re: Will Audley Harrison ever fight again?
Fury isn't that much of a bully in the ring considering his size. It would come down to whether Harrison could copy with the verbal abuse that comes his way outside of the ring in the build up. That's where Fury has built his reputation. Inisde the ring, he's not really been overly aggressive or physically dominant (that i can remember).187 wrote:Fury would bully Harrison very easily
I jest when i say i'd back Harrison to win but there is a part of me that thinks he could.

No i agree he's not that physically dominant against real heavys but audley doesn't get bullied out of fights physically does he, it's mental and tysons pretty intimidating.freddydoesdallas wrote:Fury isn't that much of a bully in the ring considering his size.
