Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
Winner?
Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
Murray. Spada is mediocre. I dont think Murray is that great in truth but he's still one of the better middleweights in the world.

Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
This has snoozefest all over it and Murray wins it on points, probably a carbon copy of Martins fight with Max Bursak
Spada's been in with some good fighters but everytime he's stepped up he's lost and with Rubio stopping him last year for the first time then his durability may be on the wane
Murray UD

Murray is mediocre. Spada is a journeyman.lefty wrote:Murray. Spada is mediocre. I dont think Murray is that great in truth but he's still one of the better middleweights in the world.

Murray is world class.ikorolev wrote:Murray is mediocre. Spada is a journeyman.

... which is why he needed a gift against Khomitsky twice ?Horse wrote:Murray is world class.ikorolev wrote:Murray is mediocre. Spada is a journeyman.
Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
He's just big for the weight. If he were world class he would've did to Sergio what Cotto did, and world class fighters beat Felix Sturm. The 3 British MW's Murray Baker & Macklin should have all had a mini tournament before they went looking for world titles, like Eubank & BJS are doing, i think the winner of that bout has better potential than Murray/Macklin/Barker did.Horse wrote:Murray is world class.ikorolev wrote:Murray is mediocre. Martinez's knees were in much worse shape against Cotto. Martinez hadn't recovered from surgery.Ricky_ wrote:He's just big for the weight. Or Murray's performance was much worse than Cotto's, so Sergio's knee problems were not so obvious ...Horse wrote:Martinez's knees were in much worse shape against Cotto. Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
Regardless of whether Martinez was more shot when he fought Murray or Cotto,Martin should have still got the decision over Sergio and thats without counting the second KD that Murray should have been awarded
I actually thought Murray looked ok against Bursak last time out,he wasnt brilliant but he still dominated a decent fighter, probably the best win of his career

Horse is a big Murray fan so....ikorolev wrote:Or Murray's performance was much worse than Cotto's, so Sergio's knee problems were not so obvious ...Horse wrote:Martinez's knees were in much worse shape against Cotto. You don't really think Martinez's knees were as bad against Murray as they were against Cotto?lefty wrote:Horse is a big Murray fan so....

Are you Sergio's physio?
It was obvious he was shot against Murray, if anything i thought he'd be better against Cotto given he had a full year to rehabilitate from such a shambolic performance against Martin Murray, he was just put to the sword against a genuine world class fighter, and a much smaller one than Murray at that.

Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
Sergio's condition apart, cotto has forgotten more offensive skill than Murray will ever know, which is a massive part of why he looked much better vs Sergio.
Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
Cotto is a better fighter than Murray, hence his achievements in the sport.
Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
Cotto's been a pro over 6.5 years longer than Murray.lefty wrote:Cotto is a better fighter than Murray, hence his achievements in the sport.
Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
Im willing to bet that Murray doesnt win world titles in 4 different weight classes and beat the same calibre of fighters as cotto did.Horse wrote:Cotto's been a pro over 6.5 years longer than Murray.lefty wrote:Cotto is a better fighter than Murray, hence his achievements in the sport.

Weight jumping and belt collecting doesn't matter.lefty wrote:Im willing to bet that Murray doesnt win world titles in 4 different weight classes and beat the same calibre of fighters as cotto did.
Beating Golovkin would put Murray on Cotto's ATG level. One big win and then there's no big achievement gap.
Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
He wont beat Golovkin though. Golovkin will beat the absolute hell out of him. That's if he doesnt succumb to the first big shot that GGG lands on him.Horse wrote:Weight jumping and belt collecting doesn't matter.lefty wrote:Im willing to bet that Murray doesnt win world titles in 4 different weight classes and beat the same calibre of fighters as cotto did.

Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
You seriously think that the guy with the ear muff defense can beat GGG ? He will likely duck Golovkin again. I already heard him saying that "if Macklin won't fight me, I am going after Golovkin". I bet Macklin or somebody else beatable will fight him.Horse wrote:We'll see.lefty wrote:He wont beat Golovkin though. Golovkin will beat the absolute hell out of him. Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
Murray won't beat Golovkin, but I don't see how Murray can't be a top-5 middleweight. Close losses over Sturm and Martinez are almost on par with wins over N'Dam, Rosado, Guerrero and Konecny.
Re: Martin Murray vs Domenico Spada
He could be #5 or even #3. There are so many fighters of his level that it is hard to say.
Murray/Quillin/Sturm/Geale/Korobov/N'Dam/Jacobs/Lemieux/Rubio can each beat any other on a good day. Fighters coming after them: Saunders/Chudinov/Macklin/Murata/Mora/Stevens/Eubank could be on the same or about the same level.
