I suspect that Murray will win a wide and uneventful decision.

Spada sucks. Easy fight for Murray.

I am expecting Martin to win it...Barker dealt with him relatively comfortably a few years back and Spada is now 34, does not carry a big crack, and not really shown any signs of having made any big leap in terms of progress. So unless Martin has been slacking or does something very dull on the night, it should be a relatively straightforward night at the office.

I'll tune in...but mainly to back Channel 5 who are being good to boxing and see whether Stuey Hall can pull off another miracle, amazing to think this guy could be a two time world champion. I hope they'll also show Liebenberg's fight and a bit of the tiny buzzsaw Buddler as well.

I'd expect Murray to win but he blows hot and cold. If he really turns up I wouldn't rule out the stoppage but if he doesn't it will be a unsatisfactorily close decision.

I always feel like I should get a check up when this happens, but I agree with Horse. Murray is a world class middleweight. People like to use the word "mediocre" without knowing what it means. He's better than 99% and change of the middleweights in the world today. That's not anywhere close to mediocre, it's damn good.

Murray is absolutely unipressive. Spada is bullying him at times.

Not a classic, glad it didn't go the distance to be honest. Murray got frustrated in there I think but at least he got the win. Don't fancy his chances against GGG.

I think Murray is a good fighter but im not sure how much better than Macklin he is for instance and thus i'm not sure he's gonna provide much of a test for GGG.

He doesn't have speed, he doesn't have movement, he doesn't have huge power and he gets intimidated by pressure fighters, even journeyman level ones. It will be short one-sided beating by Golovkin.

Rafael just tweeted that GGG-Murray is going to be announced for Feb 21st on HBO.
At the post-fight press conference in Monaco they will formally announce GGG vs. Murray on Feb. 21 in Monaco (and on HBO in the US).

Wtf is the point of the press conference?! Cant they just the fight in the ring, surely the press will cover it in the same way.

They should've announced it in the ring and then discussed it in the press conference.

Wow what a cluster fvck. Open scoring announced during the round, point taken immediately for an accidental headbutt, and Spada, having trouble keeping his shorts on, wrestling his way in like a drunk guy stumbling into bed while looking at the referee like: "What? This isn't boxing? How should I know?"

Incredibly entertaining in a car crash sort of way. I was surprised the fan man didn't show up.

EDIT: In between all that, I forgot to mention the sheer out of the blue way the fight was stopped.

I'm Italian and my passion for boxing is just one year old.
So said, few days ago I was looking for actual middleweight italian champion. Domenico Spada.
Ok let s see him on youtube. So I've watched the fight that he won this year with Manco ragaining after more than 10 years the title of middleweight italian champion.
Than I read on youtube "Murray-Spada" ???
Can't believe it. The same Murray that I saw on the ring with GGG? It was true. I watched the fight and ....
WHAT A SHAME. A FAT PUNCHER AGAINST A REAL MIDDLEWEIGHT. ALWAYS PUNCHING ON THE BACK OF MURRAY HEAD, ASSOULTING WHILE WAVING ARMS LIKE A DRUNK. ENDING WITH YELLS TOWARDS THE CAMERA AND ARGUING WITH THE OBVIOUS SCORE IN FAVOR OF MURRAY.

THIS IS NOT ITALY. PLEASE BELIEVE ME

Is the current middleweight scene better than that one mentioned in this thread?
My guess is yeah.

I enjoy a resurrected thread as much as the next man, but this one is a bit random.
