AIBA Pro Boxing Starts Tomorrow (Oct 24)

Post by yu265545 »

AIBA's foray into professional boxing starts tomorrow with about 30 fights over the weekend in Russia, Italy, Kazakhstan, and Bulgaria. Some of professional boxers participating:

Ahmed Samir (11-1) http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Redouane Asloum (11-2) http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Carlos Aquino (13-1) http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Marcos Nader (18-1) http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?cat=bo ... _id=486860
Spas Genov (7-0) http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Javonta Charles (2-0) http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
Roman Golovashchenko (13-1) http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer

Good amateur fighters making their pro debuts include Clemente Russo, Joe Ward, Adilbek Niyazymbetov, Yamil Peralta, Michel Tavares, Charly Suarez, Evaldas Petrauskas, Misha Aloyan. Even though amateurs these fighters have more experience and could probably beat at least 50% of the professionals out there today. Mago Medzhidov pulled out of his scheduled fight for some reason.

Sadly, BoxRec doesnt have these fights in their schedule which suggests they won't count them as professional bouts. I guess all the professional fighters above have been sprinkled with magic pixie dust and have somehow transformed back into amateur fighters. :witzend:

I like the middle ground. Amateur has been bs for ages, guys have been getting paid. There should be & needs to be a middle ground like this that would more accurately be described as semi-pro imho.
