Dec 13th Tripleheaders

Post by crusader »

HBO: Bradley-Chaves, Korobov-Lee (WBO MW title), Benevidez-Herrera
Showtime: Khan-Alexander, Andrade-Charlo (WBO JMW title), Thurman-Bundu

Two good cards in my view. I think Showtime's generally has higher quality fighters, but HBO's has bouts that are more likely to be entertaining.

HBO takes it for me whenever it is close. Their production value is just so superior to Showtime.

The Showtime card is better. The HBO card is... fine, but Showtime's is easily superior.

Definitely Showtime. 2 out of 3.

Khan V Alexander > Bradley V Chaves

Korobov V Lee > Andrade V Charlo

Thurman V Bundu > Benevidez V Herrera

Just based on which fights I'd personally rather see.

I'm with J on the production value of HBO. I'm also very intrigued with Bradley/Chavez.

Like someone else said, the HBO fights will probably be more entertaining from an action standpoint while the showtime card has the better fighters/matchups. Ill probably watch the HBO card.

why do you think that?
I think Khan-Alexander is better than Bradley-Chaves partially because it's two interesting fighters vs one (i.e. Khan and Alexander are both important, Bradley is important, but Chaves isn't so much), and partially because it's more evenly matched (i.e. Bradley is a clear favorite over Chaves, whereas Alexander - Khan is pretty even).
I think Andrade-Charlo is better than Korobov-Lee partially because Andrade and Charlo are more important than Korobov and Lee (due to higher rankings, more potential, more American appeal, and so on), and partially because it is slightly more evenly matched (i.e. Korobov is probably more of a favorite over Lee than Andrade is over Charlo).
I think Thurman-Bundu would easily attract more interest than Herrera-Benevidez largely based on how many fans Thurman has. I personally have always been interested in when Bundu was gonna make a move and take a big fight. I perceive Herrera as a comfortable favorite over Benevidez, more than Thurman is over Bundu, so I fight Thurman-Bundu to be the more competitive fight. I think a contender-vs-contender match-up is better than a contender-vs-prospect fight.

So I think Showtime basically has HBO covered. Showtime's best fight is more interesting than HBO's best fight, Showtime's second best fight is more interesting than HBO's second best fight, and Showtime's third best fight is more interesting than HBO's third best fight.

3 out of 3 for me, the Showtime match ups are all better than the HBO ones in my view.

I'm interested to see Bradley, who I think is (and still will be) a great fighter, but Chaves is more of a tune up for him, barring a catastrophe.

Thanks for your analysis , I hope I get to see both cards without knowing winner in advance, fights I am most interested in seeing are Korobov vs Lee and Bradley vs Chaves(just to see if its a blowout or not). I have never heard of Bundu until recently. I marked draw on the poll rating.

What's the view on Benevidez now ? Did he leave Roach ?

I know Freddie once said he is he most talented boxer he has worked with and he sparred prime Manny at 17.

If he looks the business sets up a world title fight next year for sure.

HBO is really nice, but the Showtime one's is a bit better, methinks.
