Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum heavyweight rankings
Povetkin to 1
You cant have Pulev over Povetkin, Pulev has only beaten one fighter on that list. Povetkin has beaten three including Chagaev who has no place in the top 15. Povetkin has two good wins since his sole defeat to WK. Charr and Takam.

Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum heavyweight rankings
I think it's acceptable to have it either way. Povetkin's resume is stronger, yet he has already been convincingly beaten by Wlad, who Pulev is yet to face, plus I'd favour Pulev to beat Povetkin. It's certainly a close call, whichever way you look at it.
Also, I see only Chagaev and Takam in the Top 15 who Povetkin has beaten, there is no third.

Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum heavyweight rankings
Yes you are right it is only 2, I was looking at the IWBR top 15, which included Charr. He has a won over Huck who probably the #1 Cruiser that probably should be factored. It will be interesting to see how people see Pulev over Povetkin on here, certainly would be a great fight assuming Pulev gets beaten by WK.
Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum heavyweight rankings
Stiverne should be above Fury surely?
Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum heavyweight rankings
Povetkin 1
Takam 9
And if Pulev upsets Klitchko then we put him right back or even one higher.
Cunningham 12
Visinia remains unranked

Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum heavyweight rankings
Povetkin #1
Takam #9
Good match and great KO. Povetkin proves hes the best of the rest. I think that Takam still did well in that fight and should not drop too far.
Cunningham #10
Beating nobody should at least give some activity points. Wilder got #10 by the same way too![[icon_twisted.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)

Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum heavyweight rankings
I would also like to propose Charr #15.

Povetkin - Up to No. 1

Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum heavyweight rankings
I don't understand why so many people rank Povetkin above Pulev. Surely, he just spectacularly KO'ed top-10 guy, but until the 9th round he didn't impress at all. And will you change your mind if Pulev gives Wlad much harder fight than Povetkin did, which I'm sure he will?
My vote: Povetkin stays at #2, Takam down to #11

Thompson is Pulev's best win and Povetkin just stopped the guy who dominated Thompson.

Cotto has much better resume than GGG, but everybody considers Golovkin as the best fighter in his division. Also, if Pulev gives Wlad harder fight than Povetkin did, will you rank him above Povetkin?Horse wrote:Povetkin's got a better record than Pulev.Boxing Writer wrote:I don't understand why so many people rank Povetkin above Pulev. But Golovkin is considered a better fighter P4P than Cotto too, not only in the middleweight divisionHorse wrote:Cotto doesn't have a better record at middleweight.Boxing Writer wrote:Cotto has much better resume than GGG, but everybody considers Golovkin as the best fighter in his division. Cunningham's ranking remains the same.... @ #12
Povetkin's ranking remains the same.... @ #2
Both men fought essentially unproven/unranked fighters (in my view), so its just "stay busy" affairs in my eyes.
Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum heavyweight rankings
What i don't undestand why is people dropping Takam belov Thompson and Wilder. The guy beat Thompson and Wilder has not beaten anyone of note yet.

Takam isn't unproven or unranked. Your view is wrong.HomicideHenry wrote:Cunningham's ranking remains the same.... @ #12

Povetkin #1 I thought he was before the fight and I still do.Only 1 better and that is Wlad himself.
Cunningham Unchanged
Takam to #10

Povetkin to #1
Takam to #7
Cunningham to #11
Visinia remains out
Pulev's only real key win is over Thompson, and that is no longer enough to outweigh Povetkin's win over the other guy who beat Thompson. I think Takam belongs easily ahead of Thompson, definitely above Wilder for now (he has done nothing), definitely above Adamek (he is losing to / struggling with / robbing everybody these days), and probably above Glazkov (due to Glazkov's struggle with Rossy), but possibly below Jennings given how good Jennings looked in his last fight. Cunningham didn't make an especially good account of himself in his latest fight, but I have some confidence that he is better than Thompson right now, and that is really just my opinion.

Not surely, more like maybe, and we already voted on that in May. Your point of view apparently was not in the majority.Ian1973 wrote:Stiverne should be above Fury surely?
No one gives Wlad a better fight than anyone else, they all get dominated. Then they all get dropped in the rankings for getting dominated. No one seems to understand that domination by Wlad is not a measuring stick for other fighters, it is just the thing that will always happen.Boxing Writer wrote:And will you change your mind if Pulev gives Wlad much harder fight than Povetkin did, which I'm sure he will?

Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum heavyweight rankings
I seriously don't understand why so many people are voting to move Takam below Glazkov, Adamek, and Thompson. Glazkov struggled mightily with Derrick Rossy. Adamek got beat by Glazkov (who struggled mightily with Derrick Rossy), robbed Steve Cunningham, and wouldn't have beaten Eddie Chambers if not for shoulder injury. Thompson lost widely to Takam straight-up. This is shaping-up to be a terrible vote, and we should feel terrible about our terrible rankings. I think this vote shows that there is some validity to every negative thing that anyone has ever said about boxrec or the current scene.
