Not looking at outstanding performances but the ranking/pedigree of the supposedly best imports that come here (not big names that are no longer held in high regards ability-wise ie Barrera 2009.) I see the quality, or lack of, as a gauge for the 'state of the game.'
I feel there's been a very significant drop in terms of bringing over a boxing division's best boxers in the last few decades. This, despite how lucky we seem to be expected to feel by promoters and some of the boxing media. Exciting times in our beloved sport? Anyway, who's been the best in 2014?
Best overseas boxers in UK 2014

Lucien Bute was only a few years ago.
Terence Crawford is the best I can think of this year.

For 2014 Crawford by a LONG way.
Re: Best overseas boxers in UK 2014
Agree with Crawford but I was impressed with Leonard Bundu this year as well, I thought he clearly beat Frankie and his Purdy performance was good too.
Edit: Purdy fight was in December 2013, checked because I wasn't sure. But I was still impressed lol

Yup Crawford the best overseas boxer to have fought in the UK this year. Kovalev was probably the best last year.

It's a shame we don't get many more of that calibre over here. Joy to watch.Boxerbeetle wrote:Yup Crawford the best overseas boxer to have fought in the UK this year. Kovalev was probably the best last year.
