Michael Finney vs Wilkins Santiago

Post by HomicideHenry »

Good friend of mine at the offices of Top Rank said this fight has been signed.

I am actually looking forward to seeing this happen. I know Finney had his set back, but farmer boy can bang it out and Wilkins always comes forward and is never in a dull contest. One is undefeated, the other only one loss. This is a real competitive fight in my eyes. This will make it or break it, I believe, for either man.

I dont think the fight was lousy. It was a rather competitive contest--- Wilkins just has no power behind his punches. Finney had Wilkins rocked once or twice, and both guys were right in front of eachother throughout. But, I can say the verdict (a rarity) was the right one. Neither man out did the other. But it wasnt a lousy fight.

Their records made for a good fight but both guys showed exposed their own limitations.

Why did this fight deserve its own thread... What have I missed?

I only posted it because I happened to know Wilkins and his manager Eddie Gonzales rather well from the ATGRADIO days, and considering Frank Stea operated ATG and is now at TOP RANK, he made this match between Wilkins and Finney. So, I guess, in a sense, the old dream of having an "ATG" fight took place at last.
