For a few years I've wanted to see him fight the best at 175. I'd prefer him vs Stevenson or Kovalev (should he beat Hopkins) over the other options, and after that it would be Froch-GGG.

Froch wants a Vegas ppv to cash out. It needs an American draw to work. I think Chavez if he can sort out his contract dispute. Golovkin vs Froch has ppv potential but perhaps 1 big fight too soon for ggg, he could do with a Cotto or Canelo first to really hit the mainstream.

The question wasn't what Froch wants to do or which fight has PPV potential. Plain and simple: which fight do YOU want to SEE most.

I dont think Froch would be big enough for 175. He's got the height to do it obviously but he's always said that he only walked around at 6 pounds or something over super-middle when he wasnt in training for a fight so i think he'd be at a disadvantage. Anyway, i think it's a bit late for him now. He's only got a couple of fights left in him now.

Obviously he knows his body better than me, but looking at him I find it hard to believe he'd be undersized at 175.

There are probably so many options due to the range of preferences people could have.

The question wasn't about who he's going to fight but who people want him to fight,

I'd probably say Golovkin or Stevenson actually. For the intrigue element. I like Stevenson's style aswell though so I'd be curious to see how Froch dealt with him. They were supposed to fight before the Kessler rematch when Stevenson was still competing at super middle.

I only read "Froch next fight... please discuss".

Why don’t we discuss if pigs will fly then?

Carl Froch is going to retire soon, so why bother to fantasize over bouts that will never happen… or even be under consideration?
Every bout is hypothetical until it happens.

This is a forum for discussing boxing, so asking who people want a certain boxer to fight is perfectly relevant and can generate worthwhile discussion. If you want to talk about pigs there are probably other forums for that, or the Off Topic section here.

No flying pigs discussion allowed in the OT.

Yes, I follow boxing.

I don't believe there is a standard establishing that preferences for someone's next opponent aren't to be discussed in the Current Scene unless there is a realistic chance the two will fight. Going just by the term 'current', there should be no problem with that disussion either, as Froch is an active boxer and the people listed in the poll that says "Who do you like see as Froch next oponent" are active boxers.

I think it's interesting to see people's preferences and good discussion can be generated. For example, someone may offer reasons for wanting to see a bout or not wanting to see a bout that I never considered, which can in turn make me see the boxers in different ways. The beauty about this forum is that if you don't like a discussion that is occuring, you don't have to be part of it.

I suspect that relatively few people would want to see Froch face Wlad or Yamanaka because of the size disparities. I think the OP's selections were fairly good, as they limit the choices to the best names around Froch's weight.

Maybe he could add a 'other' option, and of course people could just list their choice below.

I'd love to see him fight Chavez jr. next, they are two of the biggest names in the super middleweight and both are set for a huge fight, Chavez to establish himself as one of the divisions top men and Froch to end his career on a huge note.

I'd love this fight but I'd love an end to the fights with Kessler in a trilogy decider after the Chavez fight in America would pretty much end his career on the biggest possible stage.

Destroy Chavez in Vegas then Steam roll Ward in the re-match before exposing GGG at 168 in his final fight.

If only!

Personally prefer him to retire and enjoy his family and his life. Great fighter, but has taken a fair bit of stick and long amateur and hard pro career. Nothing left to prove.

I think he would beat Chavez, and probably a few of the other top guys-he will always have trouble with the really slick guys-but I just dont see the point now he has enough money to live as he wants.

No point earning all that cash and then spending it on disability equipment like lifts, nappies and a special car when he gets a few years older.

The longer he goes without arranging the next fight, the less likely I think it is that he'll box again. He's financially secure and he strikes me as a practical bloke. Therefore, I think if he doesn't get the one or maybe two opponents he's after, he'll just call it a day. The Groves fight was five months ago now.

I wouldn't say 'NO' to any fight... but honestly, i don't need a third fight with Kessler. Pascal II, or Ward II would be nice, but of the rematches, i would like to see Andre Dirrell, fighting him.

Chavez is a good fight aswell, but i think i would rather see DeGale. Anthony Dirrell, well... i don't want him for Froch yet. Hopkins-Froch would be somewhat interesting, just like Froch-Stevenson or Froch-Kovalev.

My #1 would be Froch vs Golovkin at 168 though. Steel fist vs Steel chin.

I cant understand why anyone would want to see Froch vs Chavez Jr.

Chavez Jr has only fought once at 168lbs and has only fought twice in 2 years. That really shouldnt be good enough for world championship boxing.

Froch blatantly wants to cash out on his last fight against a known but diminished fighter. Thats why he wants Chavez Jr. It really is a poor match-up.

GGG is the obvious answer but that isn't how I voted.

Stevenson is a big puncher and a decent fighter as well but his natural size makes this a tougher fight. Also am I right in thinking AS was a mandatory or similar for Froch a few years back but the fight didn't happen?
