Not sure why I thought it was somewhere else lol. What's the boxing scene like there? I cant imagine there's much going on.

The boxing scene sucks in my view. We produce virtually no standout talent, and despite a population of over 2 million in Greater Vancouver (a more general area than just the city of Vancouver) and about 600k in the city, our best pro over the last few years was in my view a cruiserweight who would probably be only the 9th-11th best CW in the UK. I think the biggest fight we've held over the last several years was a stinkfest between Joel Julio and Ishe Smith, and while I thought things were picking up a few years ago when a promoter was putting on good cards by local standards (Julio-Smith was part of one) and getting boxing in the paper more, it's slowed since that time and now you'll hardly note a word about it in the major local news sources.

Fighters like Pascal and Bute can sell 10,000+ tickets, make millions, and be stars in Quebec, but I think the rest of the Canadian scene is generally doing poorly. Now, if you want to talk hockey that's another story 8)

Yep Boxing Monthly is looking good, really good read this month. Great layout on the PacMan fight, love the main picture, even though it's a predictable fight. Good writers in there, really liked the Adam Etches piece by Andrew Harrison, very well written. The magazine is in good hands with Graham Houston.
And I know old Buncey is a bit of an eccentric, but instead of letting him ramble on about his old days as a newspaper man once a month, how about sending him out to track down an fighter from the past, for a where are they now piece ? He's so well connected it could be a great addition.

It's a good informative and opinionated magazine and I enjoy it. Adam Etches seems a good lad, hope he does well.

1989 to 1999 editions.

Great covers.

Liked it when Barry Hugman was in charge.

Remember buying the first ever edition in May 89 and going WOW cos it was in glossy colour pages.

How times change !
