Brian Mitchell was a quiet road warrior, and one of the most underrated champs.

I remember him schooling Jimmy Mac. I really had wanted Jimmy to win

Aye, he was the real deal. I only realised post-Jimmy Mac how good he was. He was excellent against Tony Lopez

How come Mitchell never got it on with Nelson or Fenech?

@Jpreisser...Nelson may have been due to the white South Africa and apartheid dimension. Pretty sure that Mitchell was personally blameless and was not a dick on that front, but a difficult fight to make for both Azumah and Brian.

I remember a lot of talk about him also facing Tony Lopez back when the tiger was one of the hottest fighters in boxing. Mitchell's inability to be involved in big fights with big names definitely cost him his place in boxing history.

He beat Tony Lopez in what was virtually a unification match after drawing with him in Sacramento. I don't know if you meant apart from those two bouts...
