Cleverly Vs. Bellew II - £16.95 on SKY Sports Box Office

Post by chad »

SKY have confirmed the fight will cost £16.95 to order.

Not happy about this at all. Should be on SKY Sports especially when there is only 1 live event, Matthew Macklin in Dublin, on SKY Sports during the whole month of November.

Won't be buying this. I've e-mailed my disgust to SKY Sports Managing Director Barney Francis ( [email protected] ) SKY and Eddie trying to sell shite for the price of gold.

I know Boxerbeetle i know mate

Its just that ive not missed a show on british TV for nearly 10 years and the obsessive in wont let me back out on this one :verysad:

Theres actually some decent fights on the card too, clearly not PPV but Bellew/Cleverly,Degale/Periban,Quigg/Otake and Smith/Sjekloka are all good fights and Sprott should hopefully be the last of the 100% certain knockover jobs for Joshua

But of course the real issue is we're expected to pay for a PPV show without a PPV fighter on it

It's a big bill with a lot of fighters who all have to be paid. I read somewhere that the combined purses total over £1 million. Bellew v Cleverley should not be PPV in a million years and I won't be paying it. If it has to be PPV to be a financial success then why not price it at less than a fiver and probably get four times as many buys? £16.95 is not good value for what is on offer.

Oh well, if Sky releases the figures for the PPV & only 1 person actually purchased it, at least we'll know who it was

I will not be buying this PPV. I remember the days when you had at least a world title on the line on a PPV card.

The only way a card like this should ever be PPV is as the first leg to a massive fight in the US - preferably featuring a Hatton, Lewis or a Hamed type, with some quality fights on the undercard.

And why has PPV gone up in price?

£16.95??! Does that include the Pacquiao - Mayweather fight on the undercard?

I may actually watch Ringside in the lead ups (YouTube or stream of course), for comedy reasons. To see whether the so called presenters can keep their sh1t eating grins on their silly mugs while talking up this farce.

I'm sure I couldnt keep a straight face.

It'll be funny seeing if a true trade boxing man, who knows this is a pisstake and a load of risible Bollox, can actually talk this sh1te up and not jut burst into laughter.

That'll be a test of acting ability.

I guess Eddie thought he might as well charge more to remove any doubt that he is taking the piss and treating the boxing fan with the contempt he thinks that they deserve (also hair spray and fake tan ain't cheap you know).

As others have said, if people buy this then this will be the thin end of the wedge - there will be more PPV shows, with poor cards, and the price will only go one way.

Eddie will just probably harp on about why we're lucky only having to pay £17 as they pay $70 in the US

I really hope the consensus on this forum matches the casual fans who may just buy it based on Froch-Groves being good.

I can't believe that apart from a few Welshmen, and some chavvh Scousers., that any casual fans know these fighters exist.

Yes I agree but remember the names on the undercard: Groves, Degale, Quigg and Joshua. 2 of 4 have been PPV before and Joshua is "the next big thing". Its the package the mismatchroom are trying to sell.

I hope it bombs aswell, Hearn offers nothing new in my opinion, he has no experience of building careers, just the here and now.

He's a short termist, all about making a quick buck, no thought for the long term or investing in what he has.

I totally agree, I think allegedly with outlast him, part of me hopes he does to be honest. The Card the week after has 3 50/50s) Fury/Chis, BJS/Junior and Gavin/Skeete.
