Will Eubank actual fight Saunders?

Just wondering if anyone is actually beginning to worry if this fight will take place at all.

Eubank is not turning up for any of the press conferences and i am starting to believe he doesnt want the fight.

I really hope this fight goes ahead but i have been worried about this from the start and Eubank is not showing any signs he is up for this. For me there is too much on the line (in terms of belts) not to show up but if this fight doesnt go ahead i wouldnt be surprised one bit

Any thoughts????????

I think he has to fight now. If he drops out he will have to go and fight abroad. He's not really got a fanbase so pissing off so many fans for a fight like this will do his reputation and options a lot of damage

They've already burnt their bridges with Mick Hennessey and Channel 5, if he pulls out Warren will have had enough, there's only so many people out there for them to work with and he can't sell a ticket so they can't run their own shows.

Exactly. He needs to do something to increase the demand for him. I'm not that fussed on him. I've missed a couple of his shows on channel 5 despite being at home and watching some other shite on tv. I'm interested in this fight with BJS but if it goes tits up i'd be more likely to watch BJS than Jnr next time out

If he does that he will have a buzz around him but i'm not sure that he'll have a fanbase that will buy tickets in large numbers. This is going out on allegedly and not sky. Outside of forums like this and other boxing stuff, it's not like BJS is a recognisable name

He'll fight. As much as I understand Frank's frustration yesterday, that particular press conference was not contracted. The two pressers during fight week are obligatory though and I fully expect Chris to turn up to both.

Yeah its all mind games and media building now. Eubank Jr is doing a great job of winding BJS up. I remember some of the great mind games of the past - im not saying this is as good as pretending you've been hypnotised so that you cant feel pain - however its what boxing is all about and why i love it.

Not that sure based on what Eubank Snr keeps doing. If Eubank wins I cannot see him getting a big fight in the near future based on the nonsense he has been at for this fight.

I expect the fight to happen, but I only expect him to be there for the weigh in. I also expect him to somehow try and dodge the face to face after the weigh in.

His Dads presence obviously helps build his profile, but i cant help but get the feeling Eubank Sr is not in this for all the right reasons. He should stay in the background and let young Chris's character come through, its not about him anymore - he appears to need reminding of that.

i though Eubank jnr had a pretty decent fan base, most people in my work who dont watch boxing know who he is and want to watch him.

Because of who his dad is and because he's fought the majority of his matches on C5, young Chris is well known compared to most pros and that's precisely the reason that Frank was so frustrated when the Eubanks were a no show the other day. The tickets are sold and existing subscribers are looking forward to the fight, so now it's all about attracting new sign-ups off the back of Eubank's (either of them) notoriety. That's why Frank took the risk of offering him the fight in the first place.

It will happen now. If Eubank pulls out it will not do his career any favours. I actually think Eubank has nothing to lose here. This could catapult his career big time.

That exact question was put to Snr when Jnr fought in Newcastle earlier this year and Snr wandred around the ring and posing during rounds.
He said all the posturing was to take attention away from his son and onto him to allow his son to concentrate on boxing. Not sure if he was entirely believable..

I do think this fight will happen failing a legitimate injury (to either).

Why was there another press conference this week anyway? Its not that common to have one around now 4 weeks out or whatever, unless I haven't been paying attention, or was the reason given because Eubank hadn't turned up at the first one?

I have long taken the line that this fight will NOT happen. These days it's fairly easy to pull out of a fight citing an injury. And I don't really believe that Eubank Jr wants the fight all that much...

Saunders could really put the breaks on the Eubank Jr gravy train...

The match up might not be as "interesting" as you think... Who has Eubank Jr defeated that makes you think he could take Saunders?

Good question and you are right... no one of note.

Its an Interesting fight because as you will see from the poll on here...its divided peoples opinion big time. Do you not find it an interesting fight?

Agreed. Eubank Jr has been professional for three years now, and he has not done anything remarkable.
Consider this - Chris has had EIGHTEEN fights, which you have to say is a helluva lot - and to put that in to context, the likes of Carl Frampton has only had nineteen fights and he's a World Champion and has challenged for & defended a European Title.

When comparing that to young Chris, what has he done? What impact has he made in the sport?

Certainly you are entitled to your opinion, sir. But at least Suanders has made a steady progression up the rankings, fighting good British opponents and accumulating titles while doing so.

To date, Saunders is the reigning British, Commonwealth & European Champion - yet Eubank Jr has only had a single scheduled 12 round fight. Surely that has to be considered poor form after three years of professional boxing.

Well Saunders has been tried and tested. He's beaten the likes of John Ryder, Jarrod Fletcher & Nick Blackwell who are each good fighters, and to a lesser degree opponents like Matthew Hall, Tony Hill & Gary O'Sullivan are certainly noteworthy as well. He's show that he can consistently go twelve rounds, no problem.

And I would also point out that Eubank has not met any of these opponents in the squared circle.

There's no denying that this is a big step-up for Eubank. He's going in against the best young Middleweight on these islands, can I can't help but think that he could've fought some of the above guys to bring his level up a bit before facing Saunders.

I hope that this is a close contest, but I do think that there's a distinct possibility that Eubank just isn't prepared for Saunders and that he could be sorely outmatched here.
