I think kovalev took alot of wind out of cleverleys sails, i expect him to take an early lead then bellew to take him out in the second half of the fight.

Nathan seems to have a more realistic view of his abilities whereas Tony feels he is a destructive force at cruiser. I think Belles will win the press conferences and the head to head and Cleverly will box his way through some rocky patches to win on points. I'll not be watching on the PPV though as it is not a bout that necessitates PPV money.

No bouts justify PPV money when you've already paid your Sky and allegedly subscriptions,

Bellew has more experience at cruiserweight and I think will show to be more effective than Cleverly at this weight.

I think the extra weight will suit bellew a bit better. Id be surprised if it wasn't another close one though

I think Cleverly is more together mentally than Bellew. Cleverly points.

I think Bellew will knock Nathan out. Purely due to him being better suited to cruiserweight than Nathan and also I think he does hit harder at the higher weight and seemed to have a lot of vicious weights at the equivalent weight as an amateur.

I think Bellew's getting a lot more credit at CW because he's fought the better opposition and scored KO's but Cleverly's looked good too albeit against poor opposition

I think Nathan suits the weight well and wins another close one and if there is to be a KO i see Cleverly scoring it

Nathan strikes me as the naturally bigger man when you see them side by side, very thickset head to toe.... certainly something i wouldn't have contemplated saying when he was at 175.

Bellew just has nothing about him really, he's ok at quite a few things but not especially good at anything. Power? neither mans got more than half an ounce.

The thing is, Tony will say he's going to go all out for a knockout and then box the complete opposite. I don't think Cleverley is really fragile and I think he's plenty tough to take a few and box to a win. Kovalev will knock a few better men than Nathan out - he is a serious hitter; Bellew is not in that league.

A few weeks ago I would have said that it would be a repeat of the first fight. A close Cleverly win. Now I'm not so sure, Clev just doesn't seem completely focussed and looks a bit fed up with it all. At present I'm going for a Bellew points win but that may change before I shell out £16.95...

Agree with milpool. Clev just doesn't appear hungry, it's a shame as I think the difference is talent is quite big. I'd rather clev takes this but think Bellew is too hungry.

Cleverly is probably marginally better, for what it's worth.

Which isn't much.

I must admit to looking forward to this grudge match to an extent, but it seems crazy to pay PPV money to see what will likely be a worse version of a fight that wasn't PPV.
I'll take Clev to win on points again. He's looked a little better in his last couple outings than Bellew, although his competition was marginally worse. I'll certainly be pulling for Clev as Bellew's been acting like knob in the build up.

I've gone for a Bellew ko,i think the weight suits Bellew better and his two wins at cruiser in my eyes have been more impressive, not so much the actual performances, but the ko punches,Clev isn't the most elusive fighter in the world and i think he gets caught with one.

I keep hearing everywhere that Cleverly is a natural light-heavy/ shouldn't be at cruiser and that it is a huge disadvantage against Bellew who is better at cruiser because he has more power etc.

First question, does everyone agree with this?
Secondly - Would any one agree with the view that as Cleverly is pretty tall himself and has a wide body, he may actually be better at cruiserweight? He was never known for his power any way so why does it matter? Also, Bellew doesn't seem particularly cut shall we say so perhaps the difference is neglegable? I'm not sure, but when people mention that Cleverly must be weak at cruiserweight/ Bellew must be strong I don't believe it for some reason.

Not a diss to anyone I just haven't seen it explained so I don't get it! :TU:

Same number of fights, Clev has put on more muscle and gained more power from it. Bellew has just put on weight.

Clev nicks it on points for me in another good fight. I just think he has the edge in terms of skill. Bellew talks the talk better than Clev but you can't read too much into that.

Before I commit myself to my prediction as I always thought Nathan Cleverly looked very tight for the weight down at 12stone 7lbs and Bomber also looked a little tight as well. But they seemed to gain a little more sting in their punches but I still pick Bomber to win it. He seems very hungry.

fergusg wrote: There’s a YouTube video that has Johnny Nelson interviewing Cleverly and Bellew on iFLTV... with Tony arguing that the level of opposition he himself has faced since his defeat to the Welshman has gradually improved, allowing him “to progress as a fighter.”

Bellew also argued that Nathan was fighting “numpties”, which was a point that Cleverly even conceded was true.

Nathan stated that he didn’t really want to fight the low-rated opponents he was matched with, but he then claimed that it wasn’t his job to pick fighters, as he “just turns up in that ring and win.”

If you compare Cleverly’s quality of opposition since his fight with Bellew, excluding Sergey Kovalev, it’s pretty easy to claim that at least six of Tony’s fights were against opponents that were far better than those that Nathan fought.

For example: Excluding the Sergey Kovalev fight, Nathan Cleverly hasn’t faced anyone remotely as good as the men that Tony Bellew fought, such as:
• Adonis Stevenson
• Isaac Chilemba (twice)
• Edison Miranda
Danny McIntosh
• Roberto Feliciano Bolonti

So whilst you might say that Nathan Cleverly has looked better than Tony Bellew in his recent bouts… his opposition wasn’t just “marginally worse”, they were even considered by the Welshman as “numpties.”

You may end up being right in your prediction of the outcome of this fight, but at this point in time, it’s actually quite difficult to determine who’s the better fighter, because it’s impossible to compare form when there is such a disparity between the calibre of opposition both men has faced.
Pretty sure Cleverly ko'd McIntosh a few years before Bellew did.

I don't see how you can include Stevenson for Bellew while excluding Kovalev for Clev. I also don't think that Bolonti, McIntosh, or the shot Miranda were definitely better than Krasiniqi or Karpency, let alone significantly better.

That said, I think that Bellew has faced the stronger opposition overall since they fought and clearly his opposition improved significantly relative to who he fought pre-Clev.
