Sometimes the return is not worth the effort.
When they may be paying more for license fees and training costs than what the fight is paying it can easily lead to becoming disillusioned.

The same reason there were/are many great amateurs who didn't/don't want to go pro.
I know of a few who did go pro solely because they were coaxed into it. However, as amateurs, they were sure they'd never fight professionally. Contrary to what the bonehead/savage fan would have you believe, MANY boxers (especially amateurs) do not like the blood and guts aspect of the sport. In fact, many are afraid of it.
But, when sitting in front of your computer, possibly middle aged and overweight, possibly angry because you can't get laid, it's easy to type furiously about how boxers accept their fate by stepping into the ring, and they will fight to the end ... n**** please!
