Hatton boxer Damian Hooper spoiler

Post by Old bones Ian »

Well Ricky will be shocked by this 21 second loss for his boxer, heavy KO from 1 right hand. The opponent Powdrill said before the fight his plan was not to get too beat up!
Well he certainly avoided that
you may want to turn the volume off on the video

Powdrill is a Thai, mma fighter. He's one of those always in shape guys, that love to fight in any form.
He was a 48hr replacement as well for the Hooper fight.

I don't understand, Hatton doesn't seem particularly proficient at managing/promoting boxers in this country never mind boxers on the other side of the world.

Hoops will be back.

These things happen in boxing and it could be a blessing in disguise.

Powdrill has had about 80 kickboxing fights and was a world champion so he's far from a novice. He was brought really because there was nobody else at such notice.

Gareth Williams, Hooper's trainer, has spoken to Damien at length today and they accept that it's a lesson. Ricky and the team still have 100% confidence in Damien.

He promoted Martin Murray and Scott Quigg from small hall level to world title class, took Sergey Rabchenko and Zhanat Zhakiyanov from obscurity to European glory and the verge of WBC title shots and built up the previously unknown Lucas Browne from Australian domestic clash to top ten ranking in three of world bodies. Not bad is it?

He's knocked lots of people out, mate. Hatton's matchmaker probably just looked at Boxrec too.

That certainly seems to be the case. Very poor matchmaking on the face of it, but I guess the pressure to find someone at such short notice didn't allow much due diligence to take place.

As a matchmaker you can legislate for a 21 second KO, it could really happen to anyone. If Powdrill had outboxed and stopped Hooper late on, then people could question the match making.

Wow, that is some impressive spin-doctoring you have done there.

You could do well in Whitehall.
